About Dexlansoprazole

Dexlansoprazole is a medicine used for treating excess acid reflux in the stomach and is a proton pump inhibitor. Its main function is to decrease the amount of acid the stomach produces. Hence it is a drug used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux diseases which is commonly known as heart burn. It also helps in relieving complications such as difficulty in swallowing, persistent cough, acid damage to the esophagus and prevents ulcer formation.

Dexlansoprazole works in actually binding with the proton pump and hence blocking it in the way so that gastric acid formation lessens.

Dexlansoprazole can be consumed in capsule or liquid format. The possible side effects of this drug include- diarrhea, unusual heart beat which may be slower or faster than normal, persistent muscle spasm, rash on skin specially in areas like the nose or cheeks and increased joint pain.

Severe stomach pain, dizziness, jittery feeling, sneezing and similar other effects may also be seen. Some medication also needs a higher level of stomach acid, but as Dexlansoprazole reduces acid formation there may be interactions and complications, hence it is compulsory to consult the physician and self medication should be avoided.

      Taking a large amount of alcohol can increase acidity and cause acid reflux in the food pipe causing heartburn. This would decrease the effect of this drug and can aggravate your underlying condition.

      Ddr 60mg capsule mr is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
      Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

      No dose adjustment is needed for patients with the mild to moderate liver disease. Not advisable in patients with the severe liver disease.
