Dear Benazir,
All these antidepressants take 2-3 weeks to start action on your mood. They lift the mood at a particular dose. Doctors always start with low dose so that you can tolerate them better. After 2-3 weeks you need to consult the doctor again. No need to go to different doctor. Most of the anxiety drugs will be stopped by the time your mood improves. Depending on the diagnosis, improvement, side effects, psychosocial factors, the duration of treatment may be 6 months or life long. D...more

Accept that it is going to be difficult and you will not come out of it in an overnight - depression & anxiety are very poorly researched areas in the field of medicine. There is no definitive cure to this illness. Apart from that, depression is under-estimated. You will usually find people telling you to "not be depressed" or "ease down a bit" or "stay happy" when in reality it is very difficult, or rather, impossible to "not be depressed" or "to ease down" or "be happy" there is a very little ...more

Dear Lybrate user
it's good that you are taking help from psychiatrist. The course of medicines will be decided by him or her. With improvement in your condition he will also reduce the dosages too. But if you feel any side effects, it is advisable to speak to him.
Secondly I will also advice you to take some psychological therapy sessions from Clinical psychologist. This will help you in reducing your symptoms fast and make you feel better.
All the best.

I developed fear of my own death and couldn't resist thinking of it. I have physical ailments like IBS for which I was prescribed Librax by psychiatrist. In the meantime I lost my mother also due to which I went under depression. Her death occurred in my presence and it was a painful death, thus all these problems got compounded and I developed fear of death. Thus the symptoms were so severe that it completely shook me and l suffered severely with burning sensation in stomach, lack of sleep and lot of fear and anxiety. After that I consulted another psychiatrist who has prescribed me sodium valporate, Inderal and venpower. However I am still not able to sleep and the fear, anxiety still persists. Please advise.

Hello Ashish.
Homoeopathic medicine is selected after knowing full details of the patient.
And for that proper consultation is required.
Even if someone suggest any medicine randomly, you may not get the results.
Then don't blame homoeopathy.

Decide for yourself.
