Higher fruit and vegetable intake is associated with less bone mineral density (BMD) loss and a resulting higher BMD. You see, fruits and vegetables provide a whole host of key nutrients like folate, vitamin B12 and bone-supporting magnesium, potassium, and vitamin K1.

Taking a medicine for inducing hunger for a prolonged time will surely have side effects in later stage of life. Follow some home based remedies like consuming jeera water, asafoetida and soaked fenugreek seeds may induce hunger in a natural way. If you need to get medicines, do a direct consultation with your doctor, and go ahead.

Dear Lybrate reader
I am not in favour of using medicines for weight gain&stamina. It is scientifically known that muscle mass&strength will increase by exercise/yoga etc and taking mixed balanced diet--increasing your physical activity is a must.

Hi,
yes, you can try cypon 5 ml twice daily and increase to 10 mg twice daily if required. It's in your best interest if you take her to a pediatrician for detailed assessment of poor oral intake so that a definite cause can be found and an appropriate treatment or management can be planned.

Dear parents, cypon drops or syrup is a choice of some doctors. It is not wrong. But I felt that, the moment you stop cypon, your child's appetite will start decreasing. So cypon is not a permanent solution for low appetite. We have to find out the cause of low appetite and treat that cause. So according to me, kindly consult personally to any pediatrician, and go through some investigation if needed, and do treatment of cause. And avoid cypon.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have seen the details, in which there is no mention of how is your blood glucose controlled. Sometimes if blood glucose is not wll controlled, there is a chance of loosing weight and developing signs of general weakness. The medicine mentioned (cyproheptadine) is actually an antihistamine. Appetite stumlation is a side-effect of that drug. It is not supposed to be taken for that at all. Plus it will produce fair amount of drowsiness. Thanks.
