YOur age need to be told. You can breastfeed while taking solu medrol for a short period Amounts of methylprednisolone in breastmilk are very low. No adverse effect have been reported in breastfed infants with maternal use of any corticosteroid during breastfeeding. With maternal intravenous doses of methylprednisolone 1 gram, fully breastfed infants would receive doses less than their daily cortisol output, and much less than a therapeutic dose on the day of infusion; accumulation of the drug ...more

Women who use corticosteroids (for example, methylprednisolone or prednisone) for acute MS relapsess may continue to use them during pregnancy. The use of prednisone in a woman who is breastfeeding should be carefully monitored.

We should look at benefit versus risk. Medrol is a steroid .try to deliver the baby earlier may be by 37 weeks if all well or if there is growth restriction.

Hi sir, I experienced severe pain in the right side lower abdominal pain in 29th oct. The pain started with burning sensation in penis and rose up to navel and then traveling in right abdominal area. Then I again experienced the same in 9th nov and 17 nov. And finally did a ultrasonography which said i've a 4.8 mm stone in the distal part of right ureter. The pain was severe and I had to take spasmodart. Also my friend who had a similar case, was prescribed tamfil s (deflazacort 30 mg) and hence at night I took 1 tamfil s. Next morning I went to consult an urologist. He prescribed me 1) geristart (tamsulosin 0.4 mg) and 2) cortimax (deflazacort 6 mg) for two weeks. There was no pain right after I started taking these tablets. Also I didn't took any painkiller since there was no pain. I started drinking 3-4l water daily. It's been almost eight days. And since yesterday evening i've been experiencing mild pain in the left area just under my rib. It's not severe but mild and irritating. The pain isn't like before. I wondering what kind pain it could be. 1) since I took tamfil-s which has deflazacort 30 mg before taking cortimax which has deflazacort 6 mg only, will it affect me? Or has it affected me? 2) is the left sides under rib mild pain could be due that right sided stone?

It's in your best interest if you consult a pulmonologist (dm pulmonary medicine or md chest and tb) who will assess her again and ascertain the need to restart deflazacort. Although you should not discontinue this medicine abuptly but now when you have already done you should not restart it by yourself.
I wish her good health!

She needs to be on close follow up by the neurologist throughout pregnancy. Usually the course of multiple sclerosis is not worsened in pregnancy and she can continue solumedrol (prednisone) if she was taking it before pregnancy. It does not affect the baby. The baby growth needs to be monitored. She will need the steroid during labour too if she is taking it in pregnancy. She can have a normal delivery. She needs to be closely monitored till 3 months after delivery for any worsening of multiple...more

It is good if you have used combination of deflazacort and tamsulosin. This is best for expulsion of stone but if still it has not come out and is giving you problem then better'to get it removed endoscopically by a urologist.
