Combutol 200 MG Tablet Health Feed

Sir I have been taking treatment for last six months of TB. I missed the tablet of R-cinex 600 in early morning before breakfast. But I took it very soon after break fast and then after half an hour take routine combutol 1200 mg. So there will be any problem?

No problem but better to take all TB drugs empty stomach with water and avoid eating for 1 hour for better TB killing effect, if a patient can tolerate.

Health Query

My wife took ATT treatment and finished her 12 months course (R-cinex 600& combutol ). There is a overlap of 8 weeks pregnancy when she finished her course. Is it safe to continue pregnancy, please advice. We are open to both options.

Firstly you should go for proper investigation to rule out MDR TB. At least CB NAAT should be done.

thanks for the query. Based on your query, I recommend you see your doctor who prescribed you atd meds. He will adjust the dosage. Also, I would recommend you to take some liver protecting natural products that would help you to protect your liver.

Can anti tb drugs (Ricnex 450/300, pyzina 1500 and combutol 1000) cause severe buttock/hip pain? Can anti tb drugs (Ricnex, pyzina and combutol) results in lowering of Calcium level and vitamin D3? Can anti tb drugs (Ricnex, pyzina and combutol) results in high level of uric acid? Is it possible that use of these drugs can cause weakness in body which results in limping movements? Hoping to get reply soon.

No effect on buttock pain, calcium and vit D. PZA can cause rise in uric acid. will not cause weakness/limping movement

My mother has been diagnosed with spin tb and it is effecting her d11-d12 & l1 vertibra. On doctor' s advice we started following medicines 1. Rcinex 600 mg bbf 2. Pzide 2000 mg od 3. Mycobutol 1000mg od 4. Benedon 20mg od the above medicines were taken for 1 month starting from 28th jan 2015. After that, mother got tested for lft report on 25th feb 2015 and found that three values? sgot, sgpt and gamma gt were deranged. Doctor immediately discontinued rcinex and pzide medicines and advised the following as per prescription dated 25 feb 2015. 1. Levoflox 750mg od 2. Mycobutol 1000mg od 3. Liv 52 twice daily so we got her tested for lft again after 10 days and found that these values sgot, sgpt are back in range so rcinex 450 mg (bbf) was again started by the doctor. Since 16th march 2015, patient is taking all the four medicines (rcinex 450 mg, levoflox 750mg, mycobutol 1000mg, liv 52 ) my mother is unable to move and has severe back pain. Pain has also extended to legs. It is very difficult for the patient to remain without taking painkillers. She also has fever from the last 15 days ranging from 99 f to 100. 4 f. Is the ongoing treatment fine? and what pain killer can we give it to her so that she is relieved from the pain and without having any side effect of the medicine.

You mother' s case is complex as in to answer from a remote location. Normally you would need to examine patient clinically to see the neurological status, and correlate it with mri of involved region of spine. My mother has renal TB, 5 years back she had taken normal TB treatment for 6 months and there was an stent in ureters for 6 months. After 6 months the doctor said their is still swelling in ureters so you need an operation. So we decided not to do any operation. My mother stopped all medicine. But their was some pain in right kidney continuously. So we decided to show again to an urologist in june. The doctor said your tb is still not cured. The doctor said we need to put stent again in right ureters and start again tb medicine. So now to condition is there is an stent and my mother is taking tb medicine from 6 july. The urologist referred to govt tb hospital for tb treatment. My mother is taking cat -2 treatment with streptomycin. She had taken 60 injection. And now she is having vision problem, so tb expert said you need to stop ethambutol. So we stopped ethambutol. So I want to ask to you sir, that, should we stop ethambutol or not.

Yes on finding any evidence of Ethambutol eye toxicity, Ethambutol needs to be stopped immediately and not to be given again. An eye specialist should document the same. If required it should be replaced by another Antitubercular drug preferably with known sensitivity.

My wife recently diagnosed with mdrtb and she is on 2nd line antibiotics. Now she s taking cycloserine (BD, ethambutol 800mg, levofloxacin 750mg, ethionamide (BD, pyrazinamide, kanamycin 500mg IM Now she is taking her drugs in the morning and even after taking anti emetics she s having nausea. So can we change the drug timing to night?

Hello doctor I was diagnosed by tb without cough and bloody sputum. I was started treating with forecox, omnacortil20,benadon 40 mg. After 15 days of treatment my sgpt increases to93. 6 and my doctor stops forecox and starts ethambutol 1000 streptomycin and I was treated three months. After 3 months I moved to another doctor and he started r cinex 400 ethambutol 1000 pyrazzamide 750. After some days I was got frustrated and take rcinex 400 10 tab at once and 13 tablets of trice 0.25 mg.after that I complaint of mild hepatitis. After 1 month I again started taking r cinex400 ethambutol 1000 pyrazzamide1000. This is my history. I want to know. Am I at risk of developing MDR tb. Please help me doctor .I am on ATT since march 30. My latest x ray and pleural fluid examination reports are attached. I left with att for 1 week and after that I eat ethambutol800 for 1 month. Actually means my tb medication disturbed for 1 month from mid June to mid July. I am very worried kindly help me doctor.

MDR TB is rare in extrapulmonary TB
TB medication should not be interrupted as in your case. Rise in liver enzymes is acceptable till 3-4 times rise.

The doses of TB medications are according to body weight with a maximum recommended dose. Some times doses need to be modified as per kidney function test. I think you need to reconsult your doctor for doses as per body weight as per guideline.
