I have nodule in left epididymis doctor tried antibiotics for 10 days it failed, now he says it is tuberculosis epididymitis, for which he gave 7 months course of 3 months akt4 and 4 months akt2, now my concern is that my weight is 67 kg and according to guildines I read I akt4 dosage is not accurate for me as pyrazinamide is 800 mg and also isoniazid is 300 mg in akt4 kit, but according to my weight I should be having 1200 mg pf pyrazinamide and 600 mg of isoniazid. Am I on the right dose or should I increase my dosage? And how?

9 months back, my mother was having 2 swelling seen in neck. We gone to doctor. Ent specialist. After several test like sonography, fnac it was detected as neck tb. There were total 5 in right neck with largest measuring 22 mm the doctor said to go with government medicines for tb. After 6 months course ,again sonography was done. All 5 were there size reduced with largest measuring 11 mm. Then again we were told to continue medicines for 3 months. In end of 8th month, my mother was not able to see properly. Blur vision. So we went to eye specialist, there 2 tests were done. One was for cornea and other for optic nerve damage .doctor said reports are normal and said it is due to tb medicine ethambutol. So he gave in writing to stop ethambutol. So we gone to government hospital to take medicines for for 9th month and told about blur vision. They gave 2 medicines. 1 was rifampicin and other was isoniazid. After taking for 1 month we did sonography again but now it showed lymph nodes swelling in left side also 3 to 4. And in right side largest measuring 10 mm. We told them government hospital. They told course is over. Now automatically it will go. Also vision will be clear. But it pains sometimes in neck. So they gave 1 month medicine rifampicin and isoniazid 1-1 tablet each day. They said treatment course is over but still swelling are there as in sonography. I am worried. Vision has improved slightly but not fully. Also do not know whom to ask ent or pulmonologist? please help.

If 9 months of treatment is over, att should be stopped. In cervical tb lymphadenitis, the nodes in the neck may shrink/ enlarge or new nodes can appear on the other side, all happens during the course of treatment. This doesn't mean that att didn't work or tb wasn't cured. The nodes will eventually disappear, or tiny nodes may remain in the neck permanently.

This 33 years old female presented with c/o fever 1 week, breathless weakness, loss of appetite 1 week, bp 110/70mmhg, p/r 1116/min, temp normal, cvs s1+s2 normal, chest right low air entry, cns cons & oriented. Patient investigated & diagnosed as above managed conservatively by iv antibiotics (cefobran, ppi and other symptomatic treatment. Pleural tapping done on 25/02/2020 under la with aseptic precautions from pleural cavity & 1500 ml straw fluid aspirated. Post procedure uneventful. My att started on 29th feb 2020. I am taking same dose since 29th feb 2020. Kindly guide me about dosage whether I have to reduce or take same dosage. Medicine details: rifampicin isoniazid pyrazinamide and ethambutol hydrochloride tablets ip forecox each film coated tablet contains: rifampicin ip 225 mg isoniazid ip 150 mg pyrazinamide ip 750 mg ethambutol hydrochloride ip 400 mg dosage: 2 tablets per day omez d omeprazole pyridoxine hydrochloride tablets ip 40 mg benadon.

ATT is usually taken for 6 months. After 2 months, pyrazinamide is stopped and other medications should be continued.
In your case case, i suggest you to repeat a CXR to look for the response and amount of remaining fluid. Also continue rifampicin, isoniazid and ethambutol for atleast 3 more months. You can stop pyrazimamide.

This is regarding my dad. He is 57 years old. Before 5 months back my dad is suffering from cough problem so we consult with local doctor and we have done the x ray and found that there is some water (Pleural Fluid) in right lung. So then we consult with chest and respiratory specialist doctor further we done the more test for this (Pleural Fluid) like AFB Culture, Cytology,and also we have done CT scan for chest and Sputum test all are regarding pulmonary tb. But all the report are showing normal. Also 15 days back we have done the bronchoscopy also for that one report came normal and we are now waiting for next report which will come after one month. This is case history Right now my dad taking the following medicine since last 4 months:- R-Cin 600 Rifampicin Capsules Ecox-800 Ethambutol Tablets Solonex Isoniazid Tablets 300 mg PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE Tablets (VITAMIN B6) my question is how much time it require to cure this disease? Because my dad is still suffering from cough problem.

This is TB treatment which is not as per protocol and weight of patient. Also what wad report of ADA in pleural fluid, report of biochemistry an dcytology.

Health Query

Can someone tell me what is the treatment schedule for tuberculosis in india as per who, please don't give me diplomatic answer, like talk to nearest tb hospital or pulmonologist and all. As I had it all .no body is clear regarding this treatment every doctor telling same thing. If one have been diagnosed with tb (test results- sputum for afb negative, hb-10, esr -99, rest all cbc normal, tb gold test - positive) physical symptoms cough lasts for 20 days, fever for 5 days no weight loss, no continues fever, doctor asked to start tb treatment it's been 4 months on treatment, but my question is should we continue with all the drugs as we are on (rifampicin 450, isoniazid 300, pyrazinamide 750, and ethambutol 600,) for six month or there is any change in treatment schedule. please clarify.

In fresh tb case rehz for first 2 months and then maintenance dose reh for n3xt 4 months in most cases if response to drugs good. Pt need review every 2 months.

Att to be given according to your weight. Drugs are correct just check for dose. And do continue as advised and complete the course. Do consult your pulmonologist timely.

My age is 28, height is 5'9" & weight is 85 kgs. Mujhe backache rhta hai. Tests me spinal TB show hua. Mera treatment 3rd aug se start hua. Jisme maine Rifampicin (R)=450 mg/day & Isoniazid (I)=300 mg/day & Pyrazinamide (P)=1500 mg/day & Ethambutol hydrochloride (E)= 800 mg/day liya. After consulting another doctor on 17th aug 2018 maine dose increase krdi. So from 18th aug 2018, I am taking R=600 mg & I=300 mg & P=2000 mg & E=1200 mg. But still my pain has not gone. I want to you ask about this. Mjhe back pain me improvement bhut kam h.kaafi pain h abhi bhi. Mjhe painkillers lene pdte hn regularly. Ye pain kab tak jayegi? Ya aur kuch h jo mujhe improve karna chahiye. Any tests or something jo mujhe krwane chahiye?
