1. Quitting an antidepressant can cause insomnia but usually last less than 1-2 weeks. 2. Symptoms of imsomnia can be reduced once you restart antidepressant medications 3. Consult with your psychiatrist always before starting/stopping meds.

Hello doctor, this is about my 62 year old mother. She is a known patient of type 2 diabetes mellitus from past 24 years and simultaneously she is hypertensive and went through angioplasty (standing) just six month before. Her uterus and gall bladder is in post operative status. She is also suffering from acute gastritis with recurrent bile vomits. She is on insulin Tresiba, and huminsulin R. Drugs-coversyl 4 mg, stamlo 10, atorvastatin 10 mg, clopivas Ap 75, surprise plus 5. Now the problem from last 2 months she is experiencing tremendous cramps and spasm in her stomach all day long and getting bit Rlfd by evening. When endoscopy was done no such findings had been found rather doctors told due to high diabetic the blood flow in intestine had decreased and as a result of that she is facing cramps on eating. Doctor suggested mebeverine 200 mg twice daily before food. But as of now there is no satisfying result. Sir, please suggest any other remedy if possible. She is suffering a lot.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
I have gone through the details given. As I can see she is on multiple medications. Some times drugs like statins can cause muscle cramps. Plus if she is on any othe acidity reducing drugs, then those may reduce B12 absorption. This can also contribute to cramps.
Your over all information is very general, there is no mention of actual blood glucose values (fasting, PP)& HbA1c%, so there is no way to know about blood glucose control.

Since you are an health care provider your self. You also seem to have knowledge about your disease. If you are not getting relief for 4 years then you must meet a qualified doctor who have good experience. To me it looks like IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) like ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s diseases and not simple IBS that is irritable bowel syndrom. You need to take different medicine when you have ulcer in colon. please take proper consultation.
