If he is addicted, he will have withdrawal symptoms. The extent of reaction will depend on how long he has been using the substances and what dosages is he on. It is best for him to visit a doctor who will determine these for him. Even if he does not experience physical withdrawal, he can feel the psychological symptoms and that can be quite disturbing too. Ideally, he will need both counseling and medication or detoxification to quit this habit.

each medicine though has a dose and is to be used accordingly, its not fair neither correct to discuss the use of medicines without knowing the disease and the aim of prescribing medicines it will be best for you if you consult the doctor who has prescribed the medication.
