Dear Ms. lybrate-user,

The medicines that you have mentioned consists of two salts, an anti depressant Escitalopram and a sedative Clonazepam. Youu haven't mentioned how long you have been taking this tablet. If it has been more than two weeks, had I been your psychiatrist I would have considered increase in dose of the antidepres...more

Panic attack comes mainly due to underlying anxiety disorder. You should understand your anxiety and it becomes easy for you to manage anxiety and panic attacks. Along with medicines, you need psychotherapy, meditation and breathing. Take care.

Lybrate-user,
The medications olanzapine and Clonazepam are prescribed in low doses if there is a renal impairment under the supervision of a psychiatrist and only when the benefits of taking the medications outweigh the risks. If you have anxiety and depression issues you could review how bad the symptoms are and start cognitive behaviour therapy which does not involve medications. If that helps you and your symptoms reduce then medications can be reduced and stopped by the psychiatrist.

It depends upon the indication for which you are taking clonazepam. If you are taking it for anxiety then first commence the non addcitive long acting antidepressant medicine which also acts as antianxiety before tapering the clonazepam.

Anxiety disorders and depression are treatable. Many people experience meaningful symptom relief and improvement in their quality of life with professional care. However, treatment success varies. Some people respond to treatment after a few weeks or months while others may take longer. If people have more than one anxiety disorder or if they suffer from other co-existing conditions, treatment may take longer.
