1) antiplatelets which increase the clotting time of blood and decrease chances of future heart attacks and Re-stenosis of the stent. Initially you are kept on two types of antiplatelets and depending upon your disease and your progress your then shifted to single antiplatelet after 6 months or 1 year.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
Usually Clopidogrel is to be taken usually for over 12 months, occasionally it is continued for up tp 18 months. It is better to consult your cardiologist or physician who has prescribed it. As regards statin, it depends upon the LDL level. Sometimes it is recommended for very long time or to be continued for life long. Thanks.

Hello, Clopidogrel & aspirin are needed for her to prevent aggregation of platelets statins needed for keeping cholesterol level in check. In patients with diabetes these drugs are often used in relation to cardiac problems, plus dyslipidemia is a commonly seen condition in diabetes. So there no problem with these drugs. Thanks.

Hello lybrate-user. It is the preventive dose. And yes there is always a risk of having side effects like bleeding. But there is more risk of having heart attack and next time it will be fatal. So considering the higher risk it is prescribed. Reading something on internet is good for knowledge but it does not give you right to doubt the judgement of the doctor.
