My Son 24 years, early very shy, and fear to face any groups, even driving, we have consulted many psychologists and psychiatrists, mostly diagnosed that avoidance psychology & depression, around 2 years of treatment mood improve medicines plus scholar talks, no changes, while these days last Dec 2017, suddenly started a hearing sound his throat & psychiatric hospital admitted, first day loosed his memory, while 2 days was violent shouting with ugly words he never used, psychiatrist found schizophrenia due to avoidant physiology strong, many medicines was resistive for him, now Clozapine 200 mg, plus Aripiprazole 10 mg while this medicine, involuntarily muscle movements and epilepsy symptoms showing, now taking Valprol CR 300 twice a day with above medicines, present he is laying and stay at home only, no moving out or any activity, any contacts care of these type patients to bring them social active? South India, Kerala? Expecting your early reply.

It n eeds to be assessed with psychologist n then cousneling of the parents on the way of handling. By chnaging the communication as per the age of the child.& then psychotherapy to the child for ventilation .& if required latest therapy with RTMS therapy can be given. For early recovery.

Dear Sir, My daughter, aged 27 years is suffering from schizophrenia for the last 11 years and is under regular treatment at PGI, Chandigarh since September, 2007. She was prescribed various set of medicines during the course of treatment. She is presently taking Skizoril 200 mg and Tryptomer 25 mg daily. As the symptoms persist, doctors say that she would have to take medicines indefinitely. Though my daughter is average in studies, she spends maximum time glued to books (just staring) and often looses cool on the petty issues, if things are not going as per her liking. She is very introvert and has no friends, even girls. She used to go to her educational institution alone and did not have any interaction with her classmates. She is M.A. In English. She does not like watching T.V. Programmes and using mobile (smart phone). She confines herself to her room and did not like sharing meals in dining room in the company of family members. Sometime she speaks with herself. She is self centered and sometimes envies even her siblings, when she observes them to be getting favorable treatment or they are excelling in their studies and other activities. She loves eating fast foods and enjoys travelling in the company of parents but not with others. She enjoys attending social gatherings like wedding parties. She gets irritated often and do not hesitate to speak loudly and makes ungraceful gestures to parents. She is lazy by nature and avoids doing even petty household works like cooking, washing and ironing clothes etc. She is very casual about her appearance and is not fascinated by good dresses. She often suspects her old classmates and others for conspiring against her. She also suspects her mother and thinks that she (mother) is always conspiring against her. Nevertheless, she never forgets to bring gifts for her on her birthday, mother’s day etc. She is a confused lot and her long and prolonged allopathic treatment has not brought any favorable results. Please guide, whether alternative therapies like CBT, ECT, meditation, Homeopathic treatment etc. Could treat her completely or partially. I discussed about these with her doctor (senior consultant of the rank of Associate Professor) at P.G.I. Chandigarh but he said that these are not effective therapies. Clozapine therapy worked very well for few years but now it's effect is getting reduced. My daughter has gained weight and has become dull. She has lost interest in every thing except eating. She had stopped reading newspapers and had lost interest in preparing for competitive exams. Etc. She has become quarrelsome and in fact has become a big problem for family as every one is disturbed by her behavior. Doctor (her consultant) at P.G.I. Chandigarh do not offer any alternative therapy and only advises for increasing the dose of clozapine. I took her to NIMHANS Bangalore for better treatment. She was examined thoroughly by the senior doctors there and I was advised to get her admitted in the ward (one attendant allowed) for 15 days to one month for observations and further tests. The doctor has prescribed clozapine 200 mg and Sizodon 3 mg (my daughter was earlier on Sizodon 15 mg for three years and she developed tardive dyskinesia and as a result she was prescribed clozapine). NIMHANS doctors said that alternative therapies would also be tried once she starts taking treatment from them. I am in a dilemma since Bangalore being a far off place it would not be possible for me to travel to that place frequently for follow up. In the meantime. I also consulted a private psychiatrist at Chandigarh, who after examining her and undertaking psychological tests/blood test (her hydroxyvitamin d was found abysmally low (8.60 ng/mL)(at PGI, this test was never conducted) prescribed sizopin 225 mg, ariphrenz 5 mg, escipra 10 mg and pyrocal d3 (for vitamin d deficiency. Now I am at crossroads and do not have any idea to choose which treatment (institute) to pursue for better recovery of my daughter. Prolonged treatment at PGI Chandigarh has not yielded desired results (PGI doctors have hectic schedule due to heavy rush of patients and obviously the institute follows conventional approach). In view of this kindly guide me which of the above treatments best suits my daughter for optimal results. Thanking you in anticipation.

Sir, My elder daughter, age 24 years is a patient of schizophrenia and is under treatment at PGI Chandigarh for the last 10 years. Presently she takes clozapine 200 mg single dose daily. Her problem is somewhat controlled but not totally cured. My younger son aged 17 years ,who is presently studying in class 12th (Non Medical stream) is quite intelligent and is presently taking coaching for Joint Entrance Exam of Engineering stream. His problem is that while he is quite at ease with Maths and Physics, he does not fare well in Chemistry. In weekly coaching/school test he does not fare well in Chemistry. Whenever, his results are out he is quite upset and gives up studying other subjects also. He does not want to go school/coaching institution and quarrels with his mother. When scolded for this, he becomes abusive and makes illogical arguments. However, after some time all is normal and he agrees to go to school/coaching institution . He does perform well in studies but again he is not consistent with his studies for the reasons mentioned above. Sometimes he is so optimistic that he he boasts of cracking IIT exam. But gives up easily when confronted with non performance. His lifestyle is somewhat similar. Sometimes, he cares well for his outlook, dress etc. But on another occasion, he does not care about his personal hygiene also. This issue was also discussed by me with Consular of my daughter at PGI Chandigarh, who asked me to bring my son for check up as soon as it is possible, but the problem is that my wife differs with me and says that our son has no psychiatry problem and it is just a behavioral problem and that would subside with the passage of time. She also fears that taking our son to PGI Chandigarh would make him dependent on medicines (with side effects) life long , as is the case with our elder daughter. I have schizophrenia and I don’t feel like to do regular exercise nowadays. On 29th october 2021 and 1st november 2021, a psychiatrist diagnosed me 3 times with schizophrenia and prescribed me second line of treatment (sizopin – clozapine 25 mg at 7 pm and amisulpride 100 mg - freq. 1 0 2) but I did’t start the allopathic treatment for schizophrenia and opted for natural home remedies, and watching sandeep maheshwari videos for positive affirmations. Is there cure for schizophrenia? Is recovery possible? Does medicines useful for schizophrenia? If yes, then which one? Ayurveda/unani, homoeopathy, or allopathic? If no, then what about psychological counselling? Many schizophrenia patients are taking antipsychotic medicines for 10 – 12 years but not relief. Any comment on this? I think medicines alone cannot treat schizophrenia because medicines cannot alter behaviour. Is schizophrenia a lifelong mental health issue? I am shaik ismail from visakhapatnam I think I misdiagnosed as schizophrenia .it han been 3 years when it started .before 4 years I am normal and im school topper used to over study in the mid of night and severely sleep deprived .next after few days I became calm not talking to anyone habituated for overstudy and some problem started like reduced functioning of brain and sometimes felt like brain stopped functioning in the middle of time upto 30 minutes became very worried not able to read hand shivering while writing and again started functioning .marks severely decreased .then consulted psychiatrist gave amisulpride then after public exams started risperidone &amisulpride ,brain functioning slowly got reduced, one day forgot to take tablets. Then suddenly everything stopped ,my feelings gone ,cognitive ability gone, thoughts stopped, memory reduced, imagination stopped, cannot understand books, this continued upto three years now. I tried all antipsychotic, antidepressants,ect ,combinations nothing worked. I think I am misdiagnosed .can you tell me what I have .i think this is neuroleptic induced deficit syndrome .now what to do .also clozapine monotherapy please tell me whether I am misdiagnosed ,i have negative symptoms of schizophrenia (doctor said. Is this neuroleptic induced deficit syndrome. Or schizophrenia I also think I have dopamine deficiency. I used risperidone, olanzapine,clozapine, quetiapine,lurasidone, blonanserin,amisulpride, ziprasidone,aripiprazole, and ssri ,snri, bupropion many more nothing worked. I am not even going to college because I am notable to study. I have compulsive buying disorder .buying costly items at cheap rates .getting scammed online frequently. I even have nerve problem in the neck linked to my concentration and reading. Difficulty reading, no memory, anhedonia ,poverty of speech ,poor thinking, I failed intermediate education.

All your symptoms are symptoms of schizophrenia. In schizophrenia, there is dopamine deficiency. All the tablets that you have taken are to correct that deficiency. May be because of the tablets you don't have positive symptoms. Negative symptoms need to be treated with psychosocial methods. Unfortunately you may be having treatment resistant schizophrenia. What is the first line treatment plan for negative schizophrenia without any hallucination and delusion, specially the symptom calls evolution. Is amisulpride is good for unproductively in negative schizophrenia? I'm taking 100 mg amisulpride at night as prescribed by my psychiatrist.

yes amisulpride is the drug of choice for negative symptoms, but it may not act for many also.In that case it has to be judiciously used with other medications and attempted to bring the negative symptoms under control.

Actually my brother is suffering from schizophrenia from. Previous 5 years his age is 28 you use to get violent having hallucinations. Usually have doubt on everyone. He is on medication and is better than before .bt still he use to talk on phone sometimes talk unnecessary stuff. But still thank god has recovery like 80%at present he is taking alkepin 200 mg in the morning and in the evening. Want to know further treatment details how to will come out of all this.

Nice to know that your brother recovered 80%.
He has to continue Alkepin for life. He has to periodically go for check ups with the psychiatrist for side effect like weight gain, blood counts, diabetes, lipids, etc.

all your daughter's behaviour are due to schizophrenia. Some persons like your daughter becomes treatment resistant. So clozapine is prescribed. The psychiatrist will increase clozapine slowly to the required dose. Cbt can be add on but not the sole treatment. It needs a series of regular homeworks. I am on venlor xr 150 mg 1-0-0 for depression and anxiety & sizodon plus 0-0-1 & sizopin 100 mg 0-0-1 for schizophrenia. There is moderate relief. Of late, there is a speculation on putting me on fluanxol 1-0-0 and 3 mg 0-0-1 with the intention that one drug takes care of the above mentioned three illnesses in one shot. If this is true, then with some titration (deletions or updations) in the above mentioned list, can I go in for fluanxol? Please confirm. Note: there is no self-medication as I have taken this in the past.
