Dear Mr. lybrate-user,
the reason your friend has lost sense of smell or taste is because the virus generally affects the nervous system and this is true of many viral infections including the common cold. Some patients can completely lose their sense of smell and taste even after one episode of a common cold. That being said, claribid is an antibiotic and not an antiviral; however we use it due to its immunomodulation properties and ability to affect protein synthesis. (complex reasons!).more

Claribid 500 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

History and results suggest some kind of acute chest infection. Recurrent infections are common as same chest infection can be caused by different viruses. As children lack immunity, they have infections more commonly than adults till the immune system is ready. If the previous infection cleared completely before the second infection, it is most likely a viral infection. It is better to consult a pediatrician to listen to chest.
