I am taking dostinex (cabergoline) tablet half twice a week. It has been prescribed to me by any doctor to control prolactin levels. However since i’ve been taking it I get very tired, feeling of nausea and constant headache. I’m 19 and it’s my first time taking this medication. Is it normal?

Cabergoline will take 3months to bring the prolactin level to normal. If there is no associated Pcod, you will get back your periods.

My prolactin level is 72 and I have pituitary tumor i.e. 7×5 mm. Also I get breast discharge from right breast on pressing which is yellowish in colour. I have consulted many doctors and I have taken cabergoline of 0.25 mg for almost 7 months but that also not regularly. Also I think I am suffering with anxiety and depression. Is this because of hyperprolactinaemia? Please suggest what should I do?

I can understand your concern. It seems your symptoms mostly related to hyperprolactinemia. It will gradually subside with treatment.

I am having cabergoline weekly as per doctor advise to reduce my high prolactin level with meprate to have my period and today has finished taking meprate twice a day course. You should wait for 14 days for periods to come. Periods can come anytime after finishing meprate course till 14 days there after. If you don't get periods till then, review with your doctor.

Prolactin more than 100 needs to do MRI pituitary MRI as there is high risk of having pituitary tumour. Pain during intercourse may be because of lack of lubrication or endometriosis. Therefore, you need to do 1) Brain MRI for pituitary gland, 2) Gynaecological examination.

Hi Priya! You can manually remove milk by expression but avoid pump. As you need to stop extra stimulation of suckling effect created by babies mouth as well as by breast pump. Cabergolin is good to stop you can take 0.5 mg twice daily for 3 days. Mild dizziness is the side effect.

Doctor I am a pcod, my period have come on time after using the tablets suggested by doctor, myocyst ,duphaston and cabergoline, last period was 24th may, this month 24th june, we have a function in 25th, it is important function for at my in laws house, which is first my first function after marriage, is it advised to use premolid to avoid period at that time or any suggestions please advise me.

Hi, I am suffering from PCOD and high prolactin and thyroid issue. I have been under medication since last six months as I was trying to conceive. I didn't get any positive result from the medication hence I have stopped it now. I have stopped taking cabergoline due to which again my periods have become irregular. I had my last period on 10th of Feb. I have still not got my periods and my pregnancy test is negative. Please suggest something.

You have to take all the medicines prescribed for PCOD cabergoline is used to treat high levels of prolactin hormone in your body. High levels of prolactin in women can cause symptoms such as unwanted breast milk and missed periods and can cause difficulty becoming pregnant.

I am 26 years old, Not Married, I have irregular periods and recently got diagnosed with PCOD and Thyroid and my prolactin levels are also a very high. I have consulted a gynecologist, she has prescribed me with Femilon medicine and Folvite medicine and Cabgolin, Femilon for 21 days, where I got my last period on 27th Feb and I have taken femilon medicine from 5th March. I have completed the course of 21 days on 25th March. Still I did not get my period as its almost 4 days I have completed the course. And I ave also used cabgolin for 4 weeks, one tablet every week, and folvite 1 tablet every day. Would like to know when would I get my periods and also would like to know by using these medicines whether it will help me in regularizing my periods.

Yes you need to take all these medicine, these medicine will regulate your periods, but since you have thyroid also so take medicine for that as well.
Also start doing some exercise daily this again help in correcting your cycle.
No need to worry initially your cycle might delay, as you have pcod, thyroid and prolactin raised.
