Hello, the temporal lobe disease affects the memory severely, but it appears that your father has had most likely herpes simplex encephalitis or auto immune encephalitis. It nis very early to predict how much memory loss he will finally have. The best approach will be to make sure that he comes out of the illness without much damage and later rehab can be started. Memory will be improving on its own once he is back in his familiar surroundings.
