Bupron Xl 150Mg Tablet Health Feed

Hi I am suffering from social anxiety disorder since long. My psychiatrist tried different combination of medicines but nothing worked notable. Finally, Bupron XL 300 and Panazep (25/0.5 mg) combination worked for me the most. I am taking this combination of these medicines since January 2015 and regularly since October 2015. Recently I gone through regular medical checkup and found elevated liver enzymes - Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) and Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT), in my blood stream. I am diagnosed with no signs of Hepatitis (A/B/C), though a bit fatty liver and a small Kidney stone. I am a healthy person with no physical signs of any liver issue. I am developed little fat in my stomach in last couple of years but feel healthy. I don't drink, smoke and am pure vegetarian. I eat home-made healthy food mostly with balanced nutrition diet. I want to understand the possible causes behind my elevated liver enzymes and what could be the possible results of this situation? Is it happening due to my long-term usage of anti-anxiety medication. Do I need to stop my anti-anxiety medication? If I do so, I would be in big trouble as this will directly affect my social and working life. If this is necessary to stop medication, what are possible alternatives for me to control my social-anxiety? Please help and advise. I am worried as I have a family dependent on me only. Thanks in advance. Medicines: Bupron- Bupropion Hydrochloride Modified Release Tablets Panazep- Paroxetine Hydrochloride IP 25 mg + Clonazepam IP 0.5 mg Dosages: 1 Bupron + 1 Panazep daily in the morning with empty stomach before leaving to office Elevated Liver Enzymes: Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST or SGOT) as 169 U/L Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT or SGPT) as 113 U/L.

Hi, a psychiatrist will be able to answer your concerns with regard to the medicines aspect of your question. Liver enzymes can also be elevated when we have grade 1 fatty liver which can also happen due to lifestyle related issues such as sedentary lifestyle, stress, less exercise and weight gain. In view of your kidney stone, it would be nice to consult a general physician for the same.
As far as Social Anxiety is concerned, it can also be addressed by counselling or therapy with a psychol...more

Dear lybrate-user,
Why was bupropion prescribed for you? It may be for depression. It might take 2-3 weeks to take antidepressant action. Till then your mood will not be stabilised. Occasionally, you may have a manic switch, if you have bipolar depression and you were prescribed bupropion without any mood stabiliser. Contact your doctor earlier than the date given to you.

Dear Samin,
Please let me know why you want to taper down your medications.
Did the doctor told you to do? Or do you feel Okay that you want to stop? Or do you have side effects that are troublesome? Or did any non medical person told that you will get addicted.
Tapering is done in certain diagnosis of depression. In other diagnosis, it will not be tapered. Please discuss with your doctor about diagnosis and tapering.

Bupropion helps with affective disorder or depression. If depression is the cause of your sexual dysfunction, than it might help, but you need to consult a psychiatrist before using this drug.

If depression is diagnosed by specialist, then bupropion will definitely help although first preference is given to other ssris depending on patient profile. But atomoxetine is not used for depression as 1st or 2nd line unless adhd symptoms are there along with depression. So amtalk to your psychiatrist and clarify your diagnosis first and why atomoxetine is added.

Dear Sir, buproprion is an antidepressant medication used for the treatment of depression and anxiety. In some people, there can be an increase in anxiety in the beginning of treatment but it usually subsides in 1-2 weeks time. Not all the patients who are on buproprion get this side effect. Please continue the medication as prescribed by your doctor and do not alter or stop the medicines without consulting your psychiatrist.

Dear,
Depression is a state of mind, reacting to missing something expected. This means he is anxious about something. Medications do work on the symptoms but try to understand the problem.
Try to fix up an appointment to discuss.

There are lots of medications available for the the depression and anger but the selection of medication is very tricky and important for optimal benifit and least side effects and that depends on many factors like - past history, family history, severity of illness, duration, number of episodes, treatment response, side effects from previous treatment etc. So I would recommend you to discuss your case in detail with a psychiatrist nearby or online so that thorough evaluation is done and accordi...more

Drink lots of water. Wait for 3-4 days and it should settle down. These kind of effects are seen in the initial few days of taking bupropion. In the unlikely event that the problems continue beyond a week, a change of medications may be needed.
