Asked for male, 59 years old from Bangalore

I am 57 years old, male, asthmatic, diabetic with certain psychotic symptoms, the details of which have been discussed at length and suitable answers and advises have been received. So, only thing I have to say is with medications all the symptoms are under control. Let us concentrate on Asthma. I am on Theo-asthalin tablets, Asthalin and Budecort inhalers and the symptoms are under control. As advised, I am going to stop Asthalin inhaler and switch on a better beta 2 agonist inhaler Serobid and continue Budecort inhaler with immediate effect. My question is: As I am an asthmatic since birth, I require a good Bronchodilator tablet regularly. Due to side effects of Theo-asthalin tablets, kindly suggest a good and a safe bronchodilator without side effects, a list of which is given below: A) Terbutaline Sulphate (Bricanyl 5 mg 1-0-1) or B) Bambuterol (Beta 2 Agonist - Betaday 10 mg 1-0-1) or C) Doxophylline 400 mg 1-0-1 or d) Deriphyllin Retard 150 mg 1-0-1 Kindly advice me.

I am 57 years old, male and Asthmatic since birth. I was using Asthalin before for a long time, but stopped because I started getting tremors. Now I am on Doxophylline 400 mg 1-0-1, and also using Asthalin and Budecort inhalers. During my previous questions and answers I got I gathered that a long acting beta 2-agonist inhaler is useful and better than Asthalin inhaler. I am not getting relief from tablets. But there was a time when my physician suggested a beta 2-agonist tablet viz Bambuterol 10 mg (Betaday), but it is not available now. Can I switch over to Theo-asthalin 1-0-1 or Deriphyllin Retard 300 mg 1-0-1 on a regular basis or stay put with Doxophylline 400 mg 1-0-1? If this decision is not feasible, suggest a long acting beta 2-agonist tablet. Please advice.

Please do not think tablets a the primary line of management. They are not superior to inhalational therapy.

I have on aerocort on and off during last 28 years with extremely good stamina and all. Now I am 54 and had worst attack of asthma induced by fumes of dry neem leaves inhalations. I took more than 15 puffs daily but no effect then my family doctor prescribed me budecort200 and asthalin inhalers for three times a day -even that could not control. Now I am using budamate 200 twice 2 puffs each time in addition to tab montair 10 once and tab medrol once for last 2 days - I am 80-90 % recovered. How long should I continue these medicines and is there any permanent damage to my lungs because of inhalations of fumes of neem leaves burnings.

continue the inhalers and repeat a pft after 3 months to see the improvement also be regular with your follow up with your chest physician do a ige level to rule out allergy and chest xray as well

Hello doctor my son son 3 years 5 months old was suffering from cough from 2 months, he was on inhalers of budecort n levolin for one month, now cough is reduced. But not stopped completely, few days he has cough few days he does not have, like this on n off he is having cough. His paediatrician says it's allergic cough. Give inhaler if he has more cough or just leave it. I just want to no is there no permanent solution for this apart from inhalers. Usually till wat age does kids suffer like this with frequent cough n cold. And wat test we must take to confirm what cough is it, whether allergic or asthma.

You can't stop inhalers for adult or child if they have breathlessness asthma allergy etc. Do absolute eosinophil count
do total serum ige and inform then continue nebulisers and mdi inhaler
any doctor who says your child just has allergy or just bronchitis is doing a crime of not recognising your child's problems and diagnosis as asthma
treat with mdi and continue for at least 5 years.
Sometimes childhood asthma withers / goes away by 12 years of age and may come back in 40's.

I had a breathlessness after I journeyed by train for 12 hrs (hyd-mum ). Oxi conc. Was 92 %.after treatment 4 days 1 augmentin tab + duolin .25 +budecort .5 in a week I recovered. I was prescribed sequadra inhaler 1/day by chest specialist (dr. Nair -nanavati hos. Mumbai) since last 2 years I use sequadra but as such I don't feel any significant/really -comfort-breathing. It's a period costly inhaler comparatively. I was asked by Dr. Not to stop this. Where as if I take tab. Derifyline 150 retard, the cough loosens & in 2-3 days I breathe very comfortably. The problem I get when humidity is high (mumbai). Pl advise is this sequandra worth continuing? What is the speciality of this inhaler comparative with other inhalers in india not so very costly?

Asked for female, 40 years old from new delhi

My 6 year old daughter is suffering from wheezing and cough. On and off since last 2 years. She was absolutely fine during summer months and nebulization was not required but condition worsened during winters in delhi. Doctors have diagnosed it as allergic bronchitis. She is been given budesal 0.5 and salbair 0.31 and 5 ml montair syrup her conditions improves a lot after nebulization. Now the doctor has advised to give budecort inhaler 2 puffs twice a day and she is taking it. Her allergy panel test is done and ige was 10. She has been advised to stay from dust, moulds, cold food and air. Pls advise if the paediatrician has given the right treatment? Are the inhalers safe without any side effects. Will the child get dependent on inhalers? Can steroids slow the growth (height/weight)? For how long are the inhalers required? Any food restrictions like junk food?

I am 65 years old & have severe copd (bronchitis) since many years. I take salbair-i transhaler almost everyday, and budamate 400 inhaler only when feeling uncomfortable. Also I take olmesar 40 mg blood pressure medicines daily. Can I take the cavity covaxin vaccine or will it have any side effects with these medicines?

Hello,
would suggest to keep salbair I as an sos inhaler when you feel uncomfortable.
And take the budamate 400 (can reduce to 200 2.puffs twice a day followed by mouth care) everyday.
Inhaled corticosteroids plus long acting formetrol is said to be better as controller therapy.
You can take the vaccine.
Bronchisits is not a.contraindication.
But wait for half and hour so as to watch for any allergic reaction.
Take your inhalers with you.

I am 65/male and suffering from Asthma/COPD since last 7 years. My medications include Seroflo 250 Inhaler (2+2 puffs-morning evening), Duolin Inhaler (1 puff 4-5 times a day) and Montek LC (1 a day). Instead of Seroflo 250 Inhaler, last month a chest specialist put me on Sequadra 110/50 rotacaps (1 a day) and Budecort 200 (2 times a day). Fow 2-3 days it worked wonders but then started side affects of these medicines which included problem in passing urine and inflammation of vocal cords which affected my speech - I could barely whisper only. I tried contacting that specialist but he went o 3 weeks leave leaving me in lurch. So I stopped Sequadra and Budecort and reverted to my Seroflo 250 Inhaler. Dear Dr. I have 2 questions to ask. 1. Is there any remedy for these side affects as those medicines were very effective. 2. Can I use Seroflo 250 in Rotacap form instead of Inhaler? Will switching cause any problem? Thanks n Regards.

Both medicine are effective, but sequdra and budecort have caused severe hoarseness so bette ravoid that. can continue with seroflo but seroflo rotacaps can also cause hoarseness. One have to do gargles with water after use of rotacaps to lessen chances of side effect.
