Your child has infection and antibiotic need to be given to cure the cough. If the first antibiotic is not useful you may need to change it as it is not so easy to a sputum culture in a child.

You can wait for 6 months. See if hernia is big then he may require surgery rt now. I already told you that there are 2 approaches. It's already 2 months. Wait till 6 months. You should meet paediatric surgeon. I personally wait for 6 months but in case hernia is large than I do early.
