It depends on nature of cough and weight of the baby. If weight of your baby is more than 8 kg and having wet cough and congested chest then it's safe for him.

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: 1 to 2 teaspoonfuls (5 ml to 10 ml).
Children 6 to 12 years of age: ½ to 1 teaspoonful (2.5 ml to 5 ml).
These doses may be given every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
This product is not indicated for use in children under 6 years of age.

Ascoril ls contains levosalbutamol which is not recommended for use below six years of age. However it may be given with caution between 2 to 6 years age when extremely necessary. The dose range is 0.1 mg/kg, maximum 1 mg per dose thrice daily.

My suggestion is to take homoeopathic treatment.

Dont give the syrup. Simply take some ajvain roast it over pan than let it cool n make its mixture, make mixture of ginger and saunt. Add all three n gave with honey within days the cough will get clear up. You can also boil tulsi leaves n gave its water every half an hr. If the baby vomits dont panic its good as it will expell to the cough.
