since its diagnosed as a osteoarthritis (oa) of knee, the physiotherapy treatment will depend upon the stage of oa.
You need to follow a oa rehabilitation program, which includes following
1) decreasing the inflammation through icing mild exercises
2) stretching of the calf, hams, it band
3) strengthening of the muscles around knee
4) non weight bearing exercises example cycling hope

Unless you take strict precautions about good personal hygiene, preferably twice cold water bath, avoiding polyfibre and denim clothes, use of cotton clothes, care about contacts in surroundings, use of antifungal bath soap, medicated antifungal dusting powder for a long long time, it will recur.
