Hi,
Glucose can be given to a typhoid patient if the patient is not diabetic.
Regarding prevention, be careful while eating outside food. Do not consume uncooked or raw food like vegetable salads, chatnis, buttermilk, lassi, raita, cut fruits, etc. Drink only boiled and cooled water or mineral water. Flush the toilets before using it. One can even secure himself by taking typhoid vaccine which protects your body for 2 years.
