Dear Mr. lybrate-user,
what treatment you father has taken for cancer prostate. Radiotherapy? If yes then he may have burning in urine. If not he might be having urinary infection/ other causes and should be investigated with ultrasound (kub) with post void residual urine, urine routine and culture sensitivity.
Once checked treatment can be suggested.
Regards.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. Memory and mind power depends on three aspects. Understanding, retention and recollection. Recollection is easy if your retention is proper and flawless. Retention is possible when you are able understand what you read or learn. To understand you should have concentration. Concentration comes from effective learning techniques based on creative and active learning. Physical exercise, outdoor games, entertainment, socializing coupled with systematic learning i...more

My dad is dealing with prostate cancer and metastatic i.e. Spread to bones. He is heart and diabetic patient as well. He had undergone surgery to remove testicles almost year back. Psa test shown low reading - 0.140 after surgery but start increasing gradually since then. Now psa stands at 18 and just had 2nd pet scan. Doctor compared both pet scans (6 months gap) before and after surgery and did not alarm anything new. No bone pain as such currently. Based on doctor prescription he stated zoledronic acid injection on monthly basis. 2 injections so far. He currently takes bicalutamide (50 mg) along with other calcium and vitamin d supplement here are the 2 major issues I need help1. After zoledronic acid injection. He got light fever for a week and nausea. His psa score was very low after surgery but gradually increasing in recent months now 18. He is taking bicalutamide (50 mg) (1 tablet daily) since november 2022. What are treatment options to treat the rising psa. I can share the pet scan and other reports. I am looking for a senior doctor opinion and follow up appointment. No homeopathic doctors please.

Cancer staging needs to do first. Different treatments / approaches are available for different stages. Psa will stop increasing only if we are able to treat the cancer or stop the cancer growth. Zoledronic acid & bicalutamide have limited role. Pet scans. Other reports & most imp patient s clinical condition will decide further treatment.

For diabetes follow a diet low in carbohydrate, low in salt, low in fat and high in fibre. Avoid bakery products. Avoid too much rice and potato. Avoid fried stuff. Avoid chocolate, cakes, ice cream, soft drinks and fruit juices. Eat lots of vegetables. Walk for at least 30 minutes a day for 5 days in a week. Medicine and insulin will work better if you follow diet and exercise.
Medicine apke blood report (khane is pehle aur khane ke baad) dekne ke baad de sakte he.

I am a 20 year old male and I have chronic telogen effluvium. In December 2016, my brother who is 16 months older than me started experiencing temporal recession. Before it would be too late for me to start working on my hair preservation, I decided to join hair loss forums and get as much of information as I can. After lots of research, I came to a conclusion that I am ready for androgen antagonism with Bicalutamide. On October 10, 2017, I started my anti-androgen treatment with Bicalutamide 50 mg and Finasteride 1 mg daily. Everything was fine, until in January 2018, I got Folliculitis Barbae during shaving and I went to a dermatologist who prescribed me isotretinoin. The treatment was of five month duration with variable dosages between 10 mg to 40 mg. Ever since March 2018, I've been shedding a lot of hair (100-200 daily). I was aware of the drug induced telogen effluvium, so I didn't want to stress out about it. Now, that more than 10 months have passed, and the shedding is still on, I know that it is chronic telogen effluvium. Thanks to the anti-androgens, my hairline is intact and density (though reduced) is uniform. I even shed the new short and very fine regrowth that I get, so I believe this might be a direct implication of premature induction of catagen and consequently telogen phase. A couple of months ago, I started noticing massive shedding of pubic hair (which might be attributed to anti-androgens). I have got my thyroid function tested and everything is normal. There's no nutritional deficiency and no diabetes. I don't want to use Minoxidil, because I don't want to have increased hair growth on face (due to accidental trickling of the solution). Please suggest me something to treat Telogen Effluvium.

Hi lybrate-user, First n foremost I would strongly suggest that Medicines should always be taken by an expert's advice. Long term usage of these Medicines have certain side effects. Now (according to you ,)you are facing chronic tellogen effluvium in which further hairloss can be prevented by paying attention to your vitamins and minerals intake (salads and nuts, use mild shampoo ,use of wooden comb, warm oil application are some of the measures to control further hairloss up to some extent. Procedure done on 17th march 22. cystoscopy urethral dilation and bilateral sub capsular orchiectomy. Diagnosis distal bulwark urethral stricture, known carcinoma of prostrate. Tabi tab 50 mg for 60 days. Kindly clear my doubts doctor. 1. What are the chances of cancer cells moving out of prostrate to other parts of body through blood? Removal of both testicles done, whether it would stop further growth of cancer? Doctor opines, chemo and radio therapy not necessary. Tabi is effective after orchiectomy? What will kill the existing cancer cells? Whether ayurvedic medicine works? Kindly suggest effective treatment. I remain grateful to you. G v subba rao.
