Dear Mr. lybrate-user, inderal is a medicine that is given for many indications including anxiety, high blood pressure, certain types of headaches etc. For long durations, without any long-term ill effects. However, stopping the medicine must be under supervision of a doctor.

The medicines you take are pretty good but I suggest that you combine it with some counseling. Anxiety has all to do with fear and your inability (or so you would tend to think) to handle the same. In your case it is about the exam. You need some confidence. Fear is based on looking too much into the future and imagining things that usually do not tend to happen (usually 90% of your fears will not happen). Now this will disturb your study if you worry about the exam. Concentrating her-and-now mi...more

My doctor says you are over thinking and gave inderal la 20 mg tablets. Which helps me in lowing down my pulse but sometime I feel weired (like nervousness between my chests and throat )even when my pulse is perfectly normal i.e. Around 70 -75. I have gerd and allergic rhinitis also is this due to any of these conditions or it is a heart related or its anxiety only. As I have done ecg which is normal. This happens for around 10 months every day and whole day. When I wake up I am perfectly alright but after breakfast it starts and remains for the day until a take pill of inderal la, which I usually prefer to take at night so that I can sleep. Also sometimes my eyes swells for just few seconds and has pain in my eye lids on sides also I feel sometimes that I am unable to focus, and sometimes dizziness. Kindly help in this regards.

I would suggest that you visit a cardiac electrophysiologist nearby, who is an expert in cardiac rhythm disorders. The exact nature of your palpitations has to be found out before suggesting change in medications. Because palpitations can be secondary to a normal rhythm as well as abnormal rhythm.
Also we have drugs which have a better safety profile than inderal.

Frequent change in medication is not a good idea. Now that you are on inderal stick with it for a few days /week before changing it. The correct drug for you can be only prescribed after a complete review of the type, frequency and other details about headache.
