Yes, there are alternatives to metformin. You need to talk to your doctor about intolerance to metformin and he or she can prescribe other medications.

Hello, thanks for the query.
There is no difference in terms of drug action with either of these tablets. It is just the different name given by each company. Thanks.

Yes please take them. Pcos is never 100% curable as it is a genetically inherited condition. But these medicines will help in regularising your periods and other problems you might have like acne/pimples as well as reduce your tendency to developing glucose intolerance. Please read my health tip on pcos. You may find it useful.

Secondly your bmi (body mass index) is 28.65 kgs/sq meter (normal < 23 kgs/sq meter) which means you have an excess of over 15 kgs. This is a major hindrance in better glucose control. Plus I do not understand the reason for changing the medication. Please come ba...more

Whether you should continue metformin or not, depends on your fasting and pp sugar levels. Kindly get your sugar tested and share reports. If reports are normal, you might have to continue, as they are normal cause you are taking metformin. However if they are low, it can be stopped.
Metformin does not cause hair fall.
Check for other vitamin deficiency.
Eat healthy. Follow strict diabetic diet. Exercise regularly.

If only metformin is taken it should be after food. If sustained release tablet is there then od may ok. If not twice a day is better. Side effects are less if taken after food.
