You can add alpha glucosidase inhibitor to control PP after consulting your doctor. You can also switch to basal plus tnsulin therapy consulting your physician/ diabetologist/ endocrinologist by adding short acting insulin before largest meal. Yes you can switch to wockhardt or lupin brand for economic reason otherwise they are not superior what you are already taking.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details mentioned. You have given the glucose level as 170 /250 mg, do you mean to say fasting is 170 mg & pp is 250 mg? Is that so? What is the hba1c%? It is important to know that, because it gives a long term view of glucose control. To give any advise I need to know hba1c%, exact fbg & pp levels, serum creatinine, urea, dietary pattern & extent of daily exercise. One can definitely change from 30/70 insulin to glargine, but dosage n...more

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details mentioned. With a hba1c% of 10%, it is clear that your diabetes is not at all in good control. Considering your age, it is necessary to maintain hba1c% < 6.5%, fbg < 100 mg & pp 150 to 160 mg. This control will help in preventing or postponing the long term complications associated with t2 dm. Quite often when control goes hay wire, using of insulin helps to regain the control and after 4 to 6 months one may be able to maintain a good cont...more

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. Usually in well controlled diabetes fasting glucose is < 100 mg, pp 150 to 170 mg and hba1c% < 6.8%, is expected. However, if for some reason glucose control is not good, then one has to look at all the aspects of the treatment that is lifestyle management particularly diet pattern, then extent of daily exercise, weight control and then drugs. So it is difficult to give a straight answer whether you can increase the dosage of insuli...more

Use a 100U/ml syringe (orange cap) for the 100u/ml vial or use a 40U/ml syringe (red cap) for 40u/ml vial. As long as u dont mix them up, you will do just fine. All pen cartridges come as 100u/ml concentration only. Never mix up the syringes or pen cartridges
