I think, first you check your tsh and ecg, pounding of heat may not be because of amlodac. Rule out other causes first.

As per the history you have provided, you are hypertensive (BP 130/90 mm of Hg, on Tenormin 25 and Stamlo 5 mg), have hyperlipidemia (raised cholesterol) and non-diabetic. It would be helpful, if you would have posted the reprots of the lipid profile. Itis advisable to maintain your Total cholesterol <200 mg%, LDL <120 mg% and HDL >45 mg%. Usually if BP is well controlled with a single drug, then there is no need for additional drugs. But in your case doctor has already recommended Telmisartan, Chlotiazide and a beta blocker, means there is need for these drugs. Since no readings are mentioned, it is difficult to comment. Thanks.

Atenolol is not known to cause any major CNS disturbance. It can at times cause low heart rate in elderly but that is reversible with stopping the medicine. Still if you are so concerned regarding atenolol please discuss with your prescribing doctor about your concerns and ask the doctor for alternative substitutes, they will be able to give you some substitute.
