Atorvastatin reduces levels of "bad" cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL) and triglycerides in the blood, while increasing levels of "good" cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein, or HDL). As you can see the statin is given to raise the good cholesterol in her body

Dear lybrate-user,
You need medication to control cholesterol no doubt. Protein digestion and cholesterol synthesis bot happen in the liver. Take more care and treatment to strengthen the liver function for better and long lasting results. The combination of medicines has been worked out by your Doctor. It is best to ask him for logic of this choice.

Mr Dhirendra, If your blood sugar is well controlled then there is no need to chenge treatment. Good control means fasting close to 100 mg and PP between 150 to 160 mg and HbA1c%<7.. If this achieved then there is no reason to change.

There are definite side effects of hyperlipidemic medicines in allopathy. If you want '0' side effects, you need to resort to Ayurveda/ herbals. However depending upon other related issues of your health, a plan has to be made to integrate medicines initially. Herbs also keep side effects of allopathy at bay without counteracting.
