Asked for male, 25 years old from Gurgaon

Sir I am 24 years of age I had unprotected oral sex and protected anal sex with a guy. After 4 days I was experiencing pain while urinating and when I wake up in morning and squeeze penis I get semen like thing. One of my friends diagnosed it as gonorrhea and claymadia and prescribed me with azithromycin (1 gm) and cefixime (200 mg) to be taken in a single dose. I took it and after 3 days the pain while urinating is somewhat gone but I still get the white color cheesy liquid after squeezing penis. What medicine shall I take? I have earlier suffered from candidiasis. And what are the chances of getting hiv through all this. Though even after 14 days I do not have any symptoms associated with hiv through all this. Though even after 14 days I do not have any symptoms associated with hiv. I had earlier gone through elisa test in the month of september. Since I am in the window period is there any need to take the test?

BD 2wks not cured then taken cap fluconazole 150 mg stat tab azithromycin 1gm stat ○tab cefixime 800gm stat tab tinidazole 2gm stat tab ivermectin 12 mg stat oint clotrimazole L.A. Bd 2 wks oint mupirocin L.A. × 5 days.

firstly if you are self-medicating, you shouldn't. You need to see a doctor for a severe cough.
Secondly, to answer your question. Both are antibiotics and their use depends on physicians choice for the particular condition the patient is suffering from.

Health Query

My mother is 54 year old lady with high fever with chills for last 10 days. All investigations are negative except that urine had bacteria and pus cells 12 to 14. She was given course of nitrofurantoin. The fever did not subside. Sgw also developed cough dry in nature. She was given azithromycin but no relief. She was started on cefixime and today is day 8. Her repeat investigations including blood culture and urine culture is negative. She also developed pain in left wrist followed by pain in both knees. She took diclofenac for same and joint pain subsided. She is still having 103 degree fever and today is day 13 of such fever. Her chest xray also was normal. I am baffled. She once had an episode of arthritis 16 years back which was RA negative and not labelled anything specific. What should I do next? Please advise.

Pleural effusion is usually a manifestation of an underlying disease. If you are having similar complaints again but on the other side too it's unlikely it's because of the pleural effusion on the right side. Would advise you to get it evaluated with a pleural tap rather than taking medications this time around.
