The swelling could be side effect of the steroids you are taking. Discuss with your rheumatologist about this because its tge main drug to treat sle. Tgere are alternatives.

Hcq is safest drug in rheumatology. Eye toxicity usually happens only after 7-10 years of continued use of above doses. We advice eye check-up once a year only and despite having prescribed it for more than 7 years to thousands of patient, I or even more experienced consultants hardly see any patient with hcq problems.
