Better way is to consult local doctor and have a check up. He will prescribe appropriate locally available medicines. Change of BP medicine has to be with check up and doctor's prescription.

Yes you can take blood pressure medicines empty stomach, but do not take both medicines at the same time. If you are taking methyl dopa twice daily then take nifidipine at mid noon.

Please consult in the OPD with good physician or adut. Cardiologist. Never a medicine must be added or switched without proper clinical exam. Your BP is responding but HR high for age. It should have gone down. You might be having few extra beats.

Yes valsartan can be used in the place of telmisartan.
It's available in strengths of 80 mg /160 mg.
I recommend 80 mg to start with.
