This looks like asthma, can be confirmed with detailed questions
inhaled salbutamol is recommended than oral syrup for their side effects. Pressurized metered dose inhaler (pmdi) asthalin can be given with a spacer and face mask, if not relieved pmdi budesonide with salbutamol 100 mcg is better, 1 puff whenever cough occurs. I think you have wrong information about lung inflammation .ask your treating doctor about the prescribed medication. Ibuprofen and other oral anti-inflammatory medication (except steroids) have no role in asthma.

1) use normal saline nasal drops 1 drop in each nostril 4 times a day for 3 days
2) for fever take syrup paracetamol (125/5) 3.6 ml if temperature is above 100.4 fahrenheit and do not give it more than 4 times a day.
3) syrup salbutamol 1.5 ml 3 times a day for 5 days.
4) syrup co amoxyclav (228.5/5) 2 ml 3 times a day for 5 days.
