If you think that you are having a heart attack - taking an aspirin will protect you but not cure you. For cure of a heart attack and also for saving the life of someone with a heart attack - an emergency thrombolysis or angioplasty is essential. Taking an aspirin for a patient with a heart attack is protective and for a person without heart attack, it is not harmful! Hence, take an aspirin but don't become complacent by taking it!
