Yes, you can continue under the supervision of a psychiatrist to monitor the effects, side effects and also to start psychotherapy (counseling for your son, family, cbt, coping skills, relaxation techniques) if its not yet started, combination of medication and psychotherapy work better.

Dear lybrate-user,
May be you are prescribed Clonotril and Arpizol to treat anxiety and depression. Since you are still too anxious and depressed, it is better NOT to stop these medicines. Please consult psychiatrist again and discuss about frequent anxiety and depression. She/he may 1. Increase the dose 2. Add another drug 3. Change the tablets 4. Look for other medical, hormonal and social causes and treat them appropriately. All the best.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
There is no conclusive evidence to show that taking antipsychotic drugs leads to precipitating T2 diabetes. However, some studies and metaanalysis has shown that there is an association noticed in certain cases. Thanks.

No, you cannot be fully cured of these two conditions but you can become very functional and lead a fairly normal life. However, it is important to combine therapy with counseling for a long time; and effective measures for activities, skills set development, learning new coping mechanisms and being in circulation will go a long way to rehabilitate you soon. Even if it takes time be patient and persevere until you really improve. Get a lot of support from your near and dear ones and just remembe...more
