You can start initially on milder depigmentation creams which contain kojic acid, arbutin, niacinamide like Melaglow at night and use sunscreen (SPF 35 and above) three times a day. Consult a dermatologist.

Hi. Yes kojic acid/ arbutin (kojivit )has skin lightening property but safety depends on the indication and duration of treatment for which you want to use such cream. Redness burning sensation etc are the side effects on long term use. Visit nearest dermatolgist. Thanks.

To lighten the skin around your mouth, try an over-the-counter brightening cream containing Vitamin C, arbutin, or grapeseed extract. If the spots are stubborn, ask your dermatologist to recommend a prescription cream like hydroquinone, which reduces your skin's ability to make pigment.

True the pigmentation does reduce but there may be residual areas like neck, armpits, etc which may need cosmetic intervention.

Black spots and scars can be easily removed with lasers and peels along with medicines.Kojic acid (a natural skin lightener derived from mushroom extract), arbutin (also called bearberry extract), and vitamin c (ascorbic acid) are great alternative ingredients to lighten scars left by acne.
