I am woman of 63 years suffering from high blood pressure since 1997. My blood pressure since nov 2014 is not stable and feeling headic and chakkar. At present I take telma-ct 40 & spenzo 0. 5 after breakfast and tonact-tg 10 & met-xl 25 after dinner. My test report of ecg, echo, sonography, mri of brain and t3, t4, tsh are normal. Only cholesterol test done on 04/04/15 is high as below:-total cholesterol 300, hdl-51, ldl-203, triglyrides -268, vldl-53. 58 kindly advice.

Hi, my brother has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. He has not been taking any medicines for the past one and half years. He got married 3 months ago and since a week his symptoms have relapsed. He is non responsive, emotionless, has no clue of what or where he is and keeps laughing to himself in frequent intervals. A psychiatrist prescribed him rezidone - ls twice a day, nitaz - 10 mg Once a day and was given an injection of spenzo Depot 40 5 days back. But the symptoms have not reduced at all and he continues to be the same without any changes. Are there any chances he will recover and how many days does it take to show Improvements. Kindly request you to respond to me on top priority. Thanks.

Relapses and remissions are common in schizophrenia. As long as he is in proper medication he will be alright but whenever you stop medication the symptoms will reappear if it reappears it will take some time to recover. So don't stop medication and wait patiently till improvement.

I have some General Anxiety problem that was effecting my examinations. The I consulted with a doctor and started to take medicines (Serta 100 and Qutan 50 each one once a day) and beside this I started sessions with a Psychologist. The doctor asked me to continue the medicine for a month and also after a month if I was unable to get appointment with him and he will reduce the doses step by step. Four days earlier from the today I visited my Psychologist and she declared me as fit and suggested me to ask the doctor to withdraw the medication with his proper guidance. But now I have some situation and that I can't go to visit the the doctor. Can you please help me by telling me how to withdraw the medication? (I am taking these medicines for almost 50 days, before that I was taking sertima 100 and spenzo 50 for around 1 year).

My age is 50 and I have problem in hearing, as per pta report right ear has profound hearing loss (93. 33dbhl), left ear has moderate sensorineural hearing loss (51. 6dbhl) private clinic recommended usage of digital hearing aid (anervit plus med) and govt doctor recommended meds (ofloxacin opthalmic soln, zincostar, gcobal 500, flunil 60) for 15 days and told not to use hearing aid I am also on psychiatric medication (flunil 60, serenace 10, pacitane 2 mg, spenzo depot 20) my query is in my 50's should I go for hearing aid, if yes it should be digital or analog?

When was the last time you had an audiogram done? Please visit your audiologist and ent. The ent will check your ears and look for any pathology that may contraindicate the use of any hearing aid. I am a patient of anxiety disorder from last 10 years and also patient of blood pressure. For my anxiety disorder I am being treated by a neuropsychiatric from last 10 years the medications which I am taking are as follows: For Anxiety Clonotril 1 thrice a day Valprol CR 500 twice a day. Copax Sr 1 mg once a day Spenzo 0.5 twice a day Zimor 10 mg at night. For blood pressure I am taking amtas AT from last 10 years and Telma H was added last year. From last few days I am noticing that my pulse rate is between 92-100 which my doctor says is ok. Previously it used to be between 75 and 90. Also from last 2 days I am experiencing low blood sugar levels early in the morning usually it varies between 70-75 after having a cup of tea. Is all these things are happening due to the medications which I am taking or something else. This has increased my anxiety a lot all is well. Thanks for writing your concern, seems like many things going with you, I try to clarify all one by one -
1.Blood sugar doesn't decrease with these medications 2.Weight may increase with Valprol CR
3. Heart rate may vary with such treatment but usually it decreases with anti anxiety medication, increasing in heart rate may be because of uncontrollable anxiety or BP problem. Flupenthixol belongs to the family of medications known as thioxanthenes. This medication is used in the treatment of schizophrenia. It is thought to work by affecting nerve pathways in certain areas of the brain to help correct certain chemical imbalances that cause the symptoms of schizophrenia.
I do not see any reason in your case with the history you gave.

Doctor prescribed paroxetine cr 37.5 mg for social anxiety which I was taking for around more than 3 months but very less improvement seen and it causes excessive sweating too but now doctor told me to take placida so I want to know does this medicine also cause excessive sweating or not (bcoz every ssri and tricyclic cause sweating) so kindly suggest is it ryt yo start placida or not bcoz the main symptom of my anxiety is excessive sweating when anxious .and antidepressants worsen this symptom too .plz help me.

Dear Ankush,
Placida may not worsen your sweating. On the other hand it reduces anxiety, thereby sweating also.
Placida contains Flupenthixol (0.5 mg) and Melitracen (10 mg). Flupenthixol is a major tranquilizer that is not needed in social anxiety treatment. Melitracen is a weak antidepressant - not approved in India. So you can try other anxiolytics or therapy or relaxation exercise or yoga-pranayama.

This injection is easily available in gujarat but presently she is stuck up in mumbai due to lighten. It does not belong to addiction category if medicine. Rather your depression or is chronic and needs continuous treatment. Govt periodically bans combination medications, you can get the components of escitalopram and flupenthixol separately, after psychiatrist evaluation. Good luck.

I am on paroxetine 75 and bupropion 300 mg for anxiety and dysphoria. I was also diagnosed with ocd but paroxetine helped me a lot. I was recently prescribed (flupentixol + melitracen) tablet twice daily for the betterment of mood and anxiety. I just wish to know does this medicine also reduce the chain of thoughts cause by ocd like antipsychotic. Since flupentixol is a typical antipsychotic. Thank you. Do not wish to go for therapy.
