Hello sir,
I can understand your concern. Propranolol may decrease the motility of the sperms. However, I would advice you to not stop it abruptly as there can be some withdrawl symptoms. So firstly you and your wife can visit a fertility clinic or doctor, get the tests and medical advice and then depending on what exactly is the underlying cause, you can plan for next.
Hope this helps, best wishes!

Hello, Thanks for the query.
The present TSH level 1.37 mU/L, which is within the normal range. So no need to reduce the dosage of Carbimazole or take any other drug.
Hypothyroidism is diagnosed when TSH increases above 10 mU/L. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.

Hello, thanks for the query.
Madam, I have seen the details given. However, there is no mention of the dosage (mg per tablet), and importantly tsh, t4 & t3 values. Without knowing the vital information it is difficult to comment. However, usually antithyroid treatment (particularly tablets either carbimazole or propylthiouracil) is given up to 24 months. Beyond that if the condition does not improve, then other treatments are considered like radio active iodine ablstion or surgery. So please...more

In hyperthyroidism patiients usually have severe palpitation, to reduce that proplanolol is used. It is not for high blood pressure in this situation. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
With 10 mg twice a day of Carbimazole, your TSH is still very low. Please tell me since how long this dosage is being taken? Because it takes over 6 to 8 weeks to show effect on TSH levels.
Usually treatment is continued for 12 to 18 months. In some cases up to 24 months. If thyroid levels become normal and TSH comes up, then treatment is discontinued. In some cases hyperthyroidism does not come back. But if it comes back, then other alternatives are con...more

Kindly get an evaluation done by a DM Endocrinology person at the earliest. Low TSH can be due to either the gland that is function more which appears to be more likely in your mothers case. However, low TSH can also be due to leakage of thyroid hormones from the gland which is caused due to thyroiditis that is self limiting condition. Since both these conditions have different treatment it is always better to find the cause for low TSH before starting thyroid medicine. This is done by performin...more

Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
For a diabetic person it is essential to achieve a strict blood glucose control. That means fasting blood glucose should be < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <7. That too considering your age HbA1c% should be <7.
As regards TSH, in a well controlled hypothyroidism patient TSH should be around 3 to 4 mU/L, then only one will be free from all the symptoms of thatcondition. If TSH is 34 mU/L, means current dosage is not adequate. It has to be increased....more

Mr Arun Kumar, Thanks for the query.
I have seen the query. TSH 4.8 mU/L is in the normal range. That is good. Please let me know how log have you been taking Carbimazole 5 mg once a day? (Months or so)
Secondly did you have any symptoms ealier like palpitation, sweating, anxiety loss of sleep or disturbed sleep etc? Are those symptoms gone or reduced? Unless these details are known, it is difficult to give a clear answer. When was TSH 0.03 mU/L? Please let m know these details. Thanks...more
