I have been taking 5 mg Amlodipine and 25 mg of atenolol (amlopres AT25). My BP has been normal/slightly low for around 2 months now, around 110/70. How should I taper off the meds?

Dear sir/madam please tell me the difference between s-amlodipine and amlodipine. Doctor prescribed eslo2. 5 mg but the pharmacy has given a generic medicine namely amlokind 2.mg.My mother is taking the generic medicine, also she is out of station. What to do, I mean is there any major differences between them i.e amlodipine and s-amlodipine.

Little bit difference. Side effects like swelling over legs is less with S-Amlodipine, Also efficacy is little superior of S-Amlodipine but if her BP is controlled with Amlodipine you can continue with that.

Metropolol succinate + amlodipine combination which comes in single tablet which is to be taken once daily or the ways I am previously taking i.e metropol in morning and amlodipine at night.

You can take both together in combination at the same time and record your bp and pulse rate so that any alteration can be done if required.

I have been on cilnipres 10 and metolar xr 50 for sometime. Bp remains stable with these meds. I need to know whether I can go for amlokind 5 in place of cilnipres 10 as it is cost effective. I learnt that 5 mg amlodipine is equivalent to 10 mg cilnidipine.

Health Query

I have blood pressure from last 17 years. I am taking medicines 1. Ealry Morning 7:30AM before tea Omez+Becasule, 2. 8:30 AM Morning -Amlopres AT 25 mg + 1/2 Ditide alternately 3. In evening I am taking Amlopres 5. 4. In night after meals before sleeping I am taking the Rivotril. I am having oedema in left leg and now it has come left leg also. It vanishes when I stop taking amlodipin. Once Amlodipin has been stopped I have been given Beta blockers has also controlled my blood pressure but my pulse rate has gone down upto 57-60 therefore I have been again shifted to Amlodipin. Kindly suggest some other new salts which can prevent the BP without any side effect like oedema and lower pluse rate. Regards

Hi, getting edema is very common with amlodipine ....
you can be started on telmisartan or ramipril if no other contraindication

There is no dose strength of caduet equivalent to amlodipine 2.5 mg — this is the recommended starting dose in frail, small. Amlodipine with atorvastatin fixed-dose combination (caduet) can be prescribed for people.

Metoprolol and all beta blocker medicines can cause nasal stuffiness. If you have been diagnosed with allergic rhinitis, other drugs may be better for you.

My father in law is having swollen feet for a period of 3 months diagnosed earlier with presence of amlodipine as he was taking amlokind and losakind at that time for bp though we stopped medication swelling reduced for some time it comes back he was advised dytor 10/ dytor 10 plus but once you stop medication swelling comes back.

Is any special reason that yu stopped your medications. It's not wise to stop them suddenly they can cause sudden increase in your bp and if you feel your no is controlled without any medications you can taper and stop them.

Should a person with hypertension take amlosun tablet everyday even though his blood pressure becomes normal? Some people (even some doctors) claim that amlosun tablet is not just for treating people with hypertension but also for stabilizing blood pressure, so they should take this tablet for their whole life's time. Is it correct? Should we stop the intake of amlosun 5 mg or 10 mg when our blood pressure gets back to normal, or should we continue to take this tablet for the whole life? I think we should take it as long as the doctor advises us to take it. I' m confused. Could you please explain?

Hypertension is a silent killer , you will never have any symptoms of blood pressure unless the organ starts or is damaged !
