Schizophrenia is a very complex and difficult disease to treat, even with medication. All psychotropic medicines have side-effects: that is inescapable. But I suspect that you are depending entirely on medication when in reality you need to combine it with counseling or therapy to improve cognitive skills. In therapy you will learn a lot of coping mechanisms and techniques to remain functional and lead a close-to-normal life. You will also learn about emotions and how they can impact your condit...more

Dear user first of all why are you taking medicines, you didnât mention here if you donât want to take medication for life time then please wake up yourself, medicines are not a perfect solution for mental health, you have to work on your own, your will power, your mind and thoughts. You are too young. But due to certain reasons if you are on antidepressants you have to take some extra care of yourself. I donã¢âât know what are the circumstances under which you are taking medicines, I want...more

Dear lybrate-user,
You can take generic amisulpride instead of aride sr. I don't know anything about mentat. Please take an appropriate dose of amisulpride that is comfortable for your work and earning capacity. Please report it to your doctor when you visit next. Find out other reasons for less interest in work and daily activities and correct them.

As you have already confirmed that he has schizophrenia and taking medicine but still severely symptomatic probably there is a case for visiting a different psychiatrist perhaps in a govt facility near your place.

If you have been stabilized with amisulpiride and sizopin , its better to continue the same treatment. if you have any side effects or if there is no improvement, then only you think of changing the medication. As such paliperidone has no serious side effects but can cause stiffness of muscles and shaking in some pts.

Dear Sriram,
It looks as though your doctor was finding it difficult to manage schizophrenia symptoms in you. That is why so many tablets given to you.
Just for the difficulty in passing stool in the morning, you need not stop amisulpride. It can be managed by increasing water intake, lot of fiber rich food or a laxative tablet.
