Asked for female, 28 years old from Faridabad

My mother is suffering from Tb disease and about four years ago she is prescribed forecox medicine which treat her in better way but now she is having tb symptoms again. We have approached many doctors but couldn't help us in anyway medicine doesn't work. So my mother starts forecox again by her own which helps her but don't know for how long have to take it and dosage of medicine. Which type of diet should follow for her and which is best medicine and for how long have to take it and dosage of medicine. Is forecox is best for her that's why her Dr. previously prescribed her that medicine. please suggest me I don't want to loose my mom. She often have fever and pain in abdomen.

lybrate-user, its not right to start tb medication on your own again and it can lead to drug resistant TB which is very difficult to cure. The symptoms could be related to other problems than TB or it could be drug resistant TB and you need to consult a pulmonologist who has a MD or DM degree in (Pulmonary medicine or TB and chest medicine). My mother 80 years old is on tb treatment since 8 months for 1st three months she was given rifampicin 300 inh 300 pyzina 750 combutol800 then in 4th month pyzina was stopped and rifampicin 450 along with inh 300 and combutol800 was continued after 20 days due to jaundice all medicines were discontinued n ethide 250 roxid 150 levoflox 750 was started n comb 800 was added after 15 days after 1 month pyzina750 also added know in 8th month inh 300 also added so which earlier medicines should be stopped her wt is 47 kg know losing 1 kg per month after jaundice.

Post hepatitis the treating doctor is the best judge particularly for 80 year old citizen
ethambutol and levofloxacin or moxifloxacin stretomycin safe for liver
but other side effects to be watched while giving a regimen.

I am 23 yr old and I am suffering with tb lymph node result in fnac test shows tb cold abscess and afb culture -ve in left side below my ear currently I had surgery and got removed the node but I feel that pus is still getting accumulated inside. Previously I had pleural effusion and taken drugs mahaflox 400 and prd tablets but after 6 months of these medication a lymph node formed. I did xray of chest it shows no pleural fluid after 6 months of mahaflox medication. Currently its been 6months of pleural medication+ 2months forecox medication but I donot what medication is perfect for cure and how can I cure pus formation and was surgery necessary.

My father aged 68, some 8 months back was diagnosed for Spine TB and he started on AKT4 for 2 months, AKT3 for the next month but had to stop due to vision loss and following 5 months was taking Rifampicin and Isoniazid. His vision is almost back with some eye power complaint but he is complaining about arm pain midway from shoulder joint and elbow. I read that Isoniazid can cause these side effects. Also recent blood report shows hemoglobin at 10.9. I read this could be due to Rifampicin. What could be the reason and if it needs any urgent attention to treatment? FYI. He is taking 40 mg of pyridoxine, his blood work shows platelet count=130, ESR 94, CRP has come down from 67 to 8.4, LFT results are normal, His back pain is almost gone. Other symptoms at this moment are slight numbness around feet, constipation and dizziness upon movement. Remarks of Hemogram: RBCs: Mild anisopoikilocytosis. Predominantly macrocytic normochromic with macroovalocytes. WBCs: Mild Leukopenia is present. Platelets: Appear mildly reduced in smear. Macroplatelets are seen. Sugar levels are normal 93/142 Blood pressure is bit low 75/115.

Arm pain is nothing to do with TB drugs. Haematological abnormality can be due to rifampicin, but not alrming to stop drug rifampicin.

There is a slight muscular swelling possibly which we feel there. I read that Isoniazid can cause these side effects. What could be the reason and if it needs any urgent attention to treatment? FYI. He is taking 40 mg of pyridoxine, his blood work shows mild thrombocytopenia, haemoglobin = 11.4, platelet count=106, ESR has come down to 60, CRP has come down from 67 to 8.4. His back is almost gone.

Again.after 1 year I am taking cycloserine 500 mg ethambutol 800 mg pyrazinamide 1500 mg levofloxacin 500 mg ethionamide 500 ml cycloserine 500 mg kanamycin 750 ml daily I am both refamcin and isonazide resistance I want to know is this conventional 24 month course or new 12 month short regimen treatment I consult another doctor who. Is saying this is long time course.

Hi, My mom 67 years age had a lump in side neck, some test was done, one doctor said it is TB but another doctor said it is not TB though he started TB treatment but she has sever side effects of rifampicin and pyrazinamide in liver, sgpt and sgot values goes very high and she was hospitalized couple of the time. So now doctor prescribed combunex 800 mg and moxigood 400 mg tab. After few days that lump disappeared and before few days a very little lump appeared some far from first lump. So please tell me is this drugs are enough to treat TB bacteria. And should I get diagnosed her TB again to make it confirm that she realy has TB or not?

He has recently started to complaint about burning sensation while peeing and frequent urination. His Blood urea, BUN is high and so is creatinine = 1.77. I read that Rifampicin could induce such problems. I consulted general medicine doctor and he was concerned and asked to remove azulix (sugar medicine) and include nefrolex for 5 days and then redo the KFT. however he thing rifampicin could rarely cause this kind of toxicity. FYI. He is taking 40 mg of pyridoxine, his blood work shows platelet count=130, ESR 70, CRP has come down from 67 to 8.4, LFT results are normal, His back pain is almost gone. Remarks of Hemogram: RBCs: Mild anisopoikilocytosis. Predominantly macrocytic normochromic with macroovalocytes. WBCs: Mild Leukopenia is present. Platelets: Appear mildly reduced in smear. Forecox is a TB medicine, need to be taken by a microscopically confirmed case of TB , as per weight of patient, 4 drugs for first 2 months and trhree dugs for next 4 months.

Hello, I have pulmonary tuberculosis .i am 2nd time tuberculosis patient (i suffered from pulmonary tuberculosis in 2008. Now, My sputum test says 3+ afb detected and my Gene Xpert says - HIGH MTB DETECTED and NOT RESISTANCE TO rifampicin. I am on ATT (FIRST LINE WITH STREPTOMYCIN) from 1 month. BUT, I have very high grade fever almost 103 degree at evening. My blood test for typhoid, malaria, kalajar are negative. There is no weight gain in this 1 month after ATT started. My weight is 38, haemoglobin is 7 and RBC is 2.60,ESR - 98. This high grade fever irritates me and there is no gain in weight after 1 month of treatment. SO WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Kidly write detail of ATT with doses. Streptomycin have no role in retreatment . In most cases fever starts showing downtrends in 15 days, but in some may take long time. sputum should also be sent for afb culture and sensitivity to primary drugs.
