Admenta (memantine) is a cognitive enhancer usually used in dementia which mostly affects the elderly. To understand one's own mental health problems and how to treat them - the only effective way is to discuss all the questions and doubts with the treating psychiatrist. At an age of 38, I doubt the utility of admenta. Please consult your psychiatrist and confirm your diagnosis and the most significant symptoms that need to be treated.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user
try having small meals frequently. Have salads mid morning and have serving of fruits in evening provided you are not diabetic. Sometimes we might misinterpret thirst as hunger. Sometimes even in boredome we eat s lot. Try and keep yourself occupied with activities that you enjoy. And also do them with mindfulness.

In dementia, behavioral problems are common, if you discuss the same with your treating doctor or any psychiatrist, they would give medication to reduce the irritability, argumentative behavior and improve sleep. Good luck.

Dear, you must be able to distinguish between mental disease and mental disorder. Your problem is a mental disorder. Not a mental disease. These mental disorders are usually treated with a combination of medicines and other means like awareness, meditation, psychotherapy techniques, life style changes etc. I think two or three counseling sessions and psychotherapy techniques should solve your problem. Let me know if you are willing to undergo counseling sessions and tailor made psychotherapy thr...more

Dear lybrate-user,
Any new drug undergoes many stages in research. For every 10000 drugs discovered, harly one drug comes out after the 3 stages of drug development. Mglur5 is still in animal studies stage. It may take another 10 or more long years to come for human trials (not to market) - that too if it works. It may die like all 9999 drugs before that. Both memantine and inositol are available in India. Though not approved for OCD, still you can try, if you can tolerate.
