My wife has gone with Mitral Valve replacement surgery 2 years back and St. Judes Mechanical valve has been placed. But from 1 year INR not coming in Normal range which is given by doctors. Acitrom 3/4 MG is being given. What should be done to maintain INR ration in Normal range? Can Warfarin be given instead of Acitrom? And Which is the best Anticoagulant in between Acitrom and Warfarin? Or any other?

Sir INR is deliberately kept on higher side with medicine like warf or acitrom. These are blood thinners and very much required esp after valve replacement throughout life.

One month ago my grandmother had a mild stroke. She was taken to Apollo hospital (outside) and there doctors given her acitrom. But now blood is coming through the gums and is not stopping. Then a local doctor given her injection to stop bleeding. It is to be noted that she was regularly monitoring INR. But even after this it happened. Is it necessary to take acitrom further, or she may stop it forever?

Dear mild stroke does not require acitrom. What was the mri report and echocardiography report? if she is bleeding. Urgently contact your concerned doctor. Acitrom needs to be stopped. But depending on the stroke, she needs other medication.

Is it advisable to take 2-garlic pearls from apollo pharma thrice a day after or before food to reduce triglycerides .what are its health benefits? Is it okay as I am taking acitrom 4 mg and rosuvas f-10 in the evening. Will acitrom interfere with garlic pearl effect. Kindly advise.

Warfarin is Acitrom substitute. But you need to ask your doctor for dose conversion. Also, warfarin/acitrom requires periodic INR check (blood test). It will be very risky to take these medicines without blood test monitoring.

I am undergoing treatment for DVT. I am taking acitrom 4 mg for 2 days & 3 mg for one day. I am taking PT INR Test once in two weeks. I am being monitored. What can be the ideal INR? If I don't take acitrom what would be the complications I would face out of this?

Continue acitrom and regularly check pt/ inr levels to ensure adequate dosage.
May have to repeat doppler to check recanalisation of deep veins.
Acitrom may have to be continued for lt least 1 year or maybe life long depending on precipitated/ spontaneous dvt.
Wear compression stockings.

My father had gone through AVR surgery in June 2018. After the surgery doctors advice to take acitrom 1 mg & 2 mg alternatively. After 3 months when we revisited the hospital doctors suggested to take acitrom 2 mg regularly. What does that mean? Is this indicate improvement in his health or deterioration?

Acitrom 4 mg tablet is an anticoagulant or blood thinner which is used in the treatment and prevention of abnormal blood clots. This medicine does not dissolve the blood clot that has already formed but may prevent it from becoming larger and leading to more serious problems. Close monitoring of inr and prothrombin time is necessary during treatment with this medicine.

all readings between 2.5 and 4.0 are very good. Check monthly if it is 2.5-3.6

check at 3 weeks if it is good but not perfect. Exact INR depends on laboratory and patient factors like food, metabolism, gut flora. A car cannot take exactly the same time to drive 10 kms in city traffic
