Dear lybrate user,
*increased intake of fried, sour, spicy, salty, and fermented foods, as well as tea and coffee, aggravate the pitta dosha (ayurvedic humor representing fire) in the body. This pitta accumulates in the skin of the scalp, leading to hair falling out and graying prematurely. Factors like excessive anger and stress are also responsible. Excessive consumption of alcohol and meat also aggravate pitta.
Avoid pitta-aggravating foods like spicy, heavy, and oily foods, as well a...more

Hi.
It's normal to lose up to 100 hair per day, and in most people, those hairs grow back. But many men -- and some women -- lose hair as they grow older. You can also lose your hair if you have certain diseases, such as thyroid problems, diabetes, or lupus. If you take certain medicines or have chemotherapy for cancer, you may also lose your hair. Other causes are stress, a low protein diet, a family history, use of bore water, or nutritional deficiencies. Need to rule out any causative fac...more

Hello Lybrate user-
Hairfall is due to excess of shampoo use. Imbalance in ratio between shampoo and oiling results in loss of hairs so try to oil your scalp with some ayurvedic oils like Nili bhringadi hair oil or Maha bhringraj hair oil, and try to shampoo as less as you can (not more than once in a weeks’ time).

Hair loss, now-a-days, is common among males and females of all age groups. We all lose some hair strands every day, however, some people lose more than normal strands in a day that can cause severe hair loss.
Hair loss is mostly genetic, so if hair loss runs in your family, you are most likely to suffer from hair loss too. Hair loss happens either in clumps that is overall hair loss, or focussed on any one part of head - especially the crown.
While genetics play a big role, some additio...more

Hi.
Let me tell you about hairfall. In layman's language, hairfall can be divided into 2 types - temporary hairfall and permanent (which is called as 'Hairloss' rather). In temporary hairfall, hair grows back again from the same hair root, but in case of permanent hairloss, may be because of formation of DHT (Di- Hydro -Testosterone) around hair root it gets choked up, subsequently affects the blood supply to the hair and thus hair root is lost forever. (There are different pattern and type...more

Scalp issues like dandruff can only be controlled with personal hygiene management. Combing hair every day helps in blood circulation. Use of a medicated shampoo that contains zinc pyrithione, tea-
tree oil and ketoconazole helps in reducing the flakes. Wash hair thrice a week and try to massage the scalp with oil before you wash them. Take a diet rich in vitamin b, greens and protein.

Pyrithione zinc (Head and Shoulders, Jason Dandruff Relief 2 in 1) is an antifungal drug. It kills the fungus on your scalp that causes flaking. Pyrithione zinc shampoos are gentle enough to use every day. Selenium sulfide (Selsun Blue) reduces fungus and prevents too many skin cells from dying off.
