Hi rupen der If you didn't counter any problems in 2 years since injury, may be it was partial tear or minimal one which may have healed without residual laxity of knee to give symptoms of weakened knee during movements. So nothing to fear now. No, you won't need arthroscope examination at all, ad of now, neither future need for any knee replacement. Those who had to undergo TKR may have had complete rupture of ACL with association of meniscal injuries leafing to post traumatic osteoarthritis or degeneration of knee joint heralding replacement. Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your knee pain could be due to certain reasons but common ones are chondromalacia, pain due to knee instability, inflammation etc. If there is no history of any injury, and no s/s of inflammation or infection like swelling, skin redness or local warmth on touch, then I will like to advise you for conservative management initially in form of: - intensive physical therapy with focus on strengthening of quadriceps and stretching of other group of muscles - gentle anti inflammatory medications like tab etoshine or tab paracetamol can be taken in small doses for 5-7 days - adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation as per requirement - ice packs at home for 3-4 times in a day and see how it goes for around 2 weeks time. If your condition does not improve, then we will have to get certain investigations done. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Generalised body pain could be due to different conditions grossly known as polyarthralgia. Is there a recent episode of fever. Do you feel stiffness of hand and feet early morning which usually improves as the day progress. Is there any swelling around wrist elbow or ankle. Answer to these simple questions can help making a diagnosis.

Please tell me duration of pain and what was the initiating factor for it? what medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. I would like to know whether you have got your inflammatory profile done till now and whether calcium and vitamin d testing/supplementation has been done. Also please let me know what all exercises you are doing on a daily basis. Normally such kind of pain especially walking on stairs at your age is due to a condition called as chondromalacia in which there is softening of cartilage of knee cap. Hello Lybrate user according to Ayurveda Vata vikriti is the main factor for pain. Treatment- 1-apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part and give hot water fomentation. 2-take yograj guggul and agni tundi vati after lunch and dinner with warm water. 3-Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. 4-Take pranacharya vatari capsule and syrup twice a day. Diet- Avoid fermented food. Junk food. Potato rice. Sleep well.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, do warm foamentation 15 minutes twice daily for few days avoid load and long walk take rest, you may take analgesic. Stretching exercises for ankle strengthening exercises for knee. Ultrasonic therapy for 5 minutes. Change footwear.

It could be psoriatic arthritis or gout . Get your Blood uric acid examined and consult doctor.Take paracetamol for pain and give cold compression

First of all you should follow some basic thing 1. Avoid=hot and cold at time 2. Less the sugar as much as possible if you want to eat sweet take juggery which is black 3. Do not drink water after meal drink at the time of meal sip by sip up to 150 ml 4. Avoid late night sleep 5. Sinhanad guggul 1 tab before lunch and dinner 2. Maharsnadi kadha 2 tsp before lunch and dinner.

Hi Apply pranacharya restopain oil or prasarini oil on your affected part then give hot fomentation. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Take pranacharya vatari syrup and capsule twice a day. And agni tundi vati and maha yograj guggul 1-1 tab twice a day.

My mother fell and now suffering from osteoporosis compression. There is pain. Doctors have prescribed calcium my with vitamin d and one calcium nasal inhaler to be given in alternative nostrils 2puffs. To reduce pain what can be done. And how long this pain will remain. Can I do some light massaging. And can I put a belt/brace. Is warm application helpful. Please advice me.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. I would like to ask you at what level has fracture occurred, if possible please send x rays and doctor's prescription as an attachment. To answer your questions: - the medications prescribed are ok but since it is a fracture, it will take time to heal - you can give tab ultracet or let me see what has been given to her, so that I can then tell you about medicines. - pain will remain for around 2-3 weeks, once fracture starts consolidating, pain reduces - no massaging is either required, nor recommended - I think if a decision has been made to treat the fracture conservatively, then at leat a support in form of brace should be given. - in acute injuries, go for ice packs and cold compresses. Please get in touch with me with doctor's prescription and x rays so that I can advise accordingly. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Exercises for cervicogenic headache hi dear, I hope you will fitt and fine The following exercises are commonly prescribed to patients with this condition. You should discuss the suitability of these exercises with your physiotherapist prior to beginning them. Generally, they should be performed 2 – 5 times daily and only provided they do not cause or increase symptoms. Your physiotherapist can advise when it is appropriate to begin the initial exercises and eventually progress to the intermediate and advanced exercises. As a general rule, addition of exercises or progression to more advanced exercises should take place provided there is no increase in symptoms. ________________________________________ Initial Exercises Chin Tucks Begin this exercise by sitting or standing tall with your back and neck straight, shoulders should be back slightly. Tuck your chin in as far as you can go without pain and provided you feel no more than a mild to moderate stretch (figure 4). Keep your eyes and nose facing forwards during the movement. Hold for 2 seconds and repeat 10 times provided there is no increase in symptoms. Repeat 3 – 5 times daily. (N. B In some cases it may be beneficial to perform this exercise every 1 or 2 hours provided the exercise does not cause or increase symptoms). Shoulder Blade Squeezes Begin this exercise by sitting or standing tall with your back straight. Squeeze your shoulder blades together as hard and far as possible pain-free (figure 5). Hold for 5 seconds and repeat 10 times provided there is no increase in symptoms. Repeat 3 – 5 times daily. (N. Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area.

I am 34 years old and in last 4 months, I had 4 gout attack (Dec 24, Feb 8, Mar 1) on my right leg toe. Since last one month (Mar 5) I am taking Allopurinol 100mg as prescribed by my doctor for 3 months (daily 1 tablet). After starting this tablet around Mar 14th again I got Gout attack. Its already 20 days over, but that bulges on the toe has not gone completely it has reduced a bit not going completely. And because of this I am not able to walk fast or jog, can’t even wear shoe because it pains. Did 2 blood test once in Dec and then in Mar in both Uric Acid level is normal. Since Jan I have controlled by food habits as well no red meat, no shell fishes no alcohol, no soda based drinks, regularly drinking 3 litres of water. Need your suggestion how to reduce the swelling caused by this gout attack and to avoid in future so I can run and wear show freely. Thanks in advance.

Mri can be done. Natural healing time of frozen shoulder is 18-24 months. Make sure to have a good sugar control. If things are troubling you too much you can go for manipulation under anaesthesia.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Kindly take BioD3 Max 1 tab dailyx10 Paracetamol 250mg OD & SOS x5days Do back(spine)/shoulder/knee exercises Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take Do not ignore it. It may have to be further investigated. It could be beginning of a serious problem. If no relief in 4_5 days,then contact me again. Contact your family doctor or nearest hospital for emergency help.

Hello lybrate user, back pain that is associated with day time sedentary jobs like computer professional s are associated with paraspinal muscle spasms. The best way to tackle this sort of pain is to do well spaced stretching exercises of the back, back extension exercises, using hot water bags to provide relief and avoiding stooping posture while sitting. Posture also plays a very important part in back pain, always maintain a straight posture while sitting. While getting up from the bed try to first go on your left or right side of the body and get up side ways. Avoid cruntches or sit-ups: they may increase the pressure on your back and may predispose to slip disc. Always maintain a healthy lifestyle in terms of regular brisk walking, meditation, eating healthy. P. S: try to avoid pain killers (analgesics) as much as possible as many are associated with side effects that you may not be aware of. Stay healthy. Stay happy god bless you.
