Hi lybrate-user. Hope you have recovered from your fever by now. Weight loss/gain can never affect the size of the rib cage. Its just that with the loss of weight the rib cage may appear prominent. Increase in muscle mass may make the chest portion well formed giving the impression of bigger rib cage. Start eating a well balanced diet which will help you regain the lost weight and also start exercises which will help build your muscle mass. If you need I can plan a good diet plan for you.

Suffering from stomach pain and suddenly will feel weak and feel of just sleeping and doing nothing.Vit D was low.Taking tablets for the same.Vit b12, other blood reports, Sonography reports are normal.Antral erosions found in endoscopy.Treated fr the same.I am taking outside food. When i am in mumbai i don't feel this pain.But when i am in bangalore within 2-3 days, i start feeling weak and along with that the empty stomach feeling with pain. What should i do?

What is your Age? Are you strictly Vegetarian? Vit D and B12 is latest gimmick in medical world. Many in the medical world still believes it has no extra relevance with that was known decades ago. For normal health, Healthy food and exercise do not require any extra supplementation. Your Dietary calcium, Vit D and Vit B12 is enough unless you are above 40 or suffering from any disease, as your investigation report suggests you are otherwise healthy. Till date, when I am writing this essay, scientific doctor's forum could not define what is normal level of Vit D! Only endocrinologists has taken a arbitrary level of 30 mg as the lower value in the blood beyond which they recommend supplement. FDA has not yet approved any level. Do blood test at random among all healthy individual you shall get 90 out 100 is having low level but they are healthy. Even its role in Heart disease has also been questioned. You have not mentioned your age weight etc. Is Bangalore your work place? Do you change your food habit after coming to Bangalore? How ever it appears from report you are having Antral gastritis. This is not so uncommon in young individual who are very ambitious, having irregular diet habits, keeping long time in empty stomach, burn night candle regularly, drinking Tea / Coffee in empty stomach, smoking, tobacco chewing etc. Your logical treatment as per your investigation report, as I feel is following: 1) Lansoprazole 30 mg - 1 cap daily at morning in empty stomach for 2 months then reduce to Lansoprazole 15 mg daily for minimum 6 months, 2) Domperidone 10 mg - 1 tab thrice daily in empty stomach for 20 days, then twice daily same way for 1 month, Then 1 tab at morning along with Lansoprazole for 1 month then stop Take food timely, do not remain in empty stomach for long time, take some biscuit if delayed for your schedule food. Avoid chili or very hot food or drink, or fast food, oily food for about a month. Avoid any short of pain killer. Stop and quite smoking if you are a smoker. Quite any short of tobacco habit. In her sleep cycle she does not have any control over the voluntary movements of the body and we need to train her by keeping an alarm at 3 am and making her go to toilet and coming back to sleep and do this for atleast 3-6 months

Hi, Please follow these tips: Don't get too worried and anxious. Relax well. Avoid drinking coffee or tea after 7 PM, Take hot water bath before going to bed. Have light food and drink a glass of warm milk at night. Listen to soothing music or read some magazines while you are on bed. Keep your mobile in silent mode at night. Do not work on your laptop on the bed or watch TV till late night. Sleep in a dark and silent room.

HIV/AIDS is a STD which is caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). The HIV virus attacks the immune system and makes the body vulnerable to other diseases. AIDS is the last stage disorder caused by HIV infection. This disorder destroys the human immune system which might lead to other life- threatening diseases such as cancer. If diagnosed with HIV, one must necessarily maintain a healthy dietary regime because the nutrients one derives go on to contribute to the development of the immune system, thus providing resistance to the side effects of the HIV medicines.

The early symptoms of HIV/AIDS appear within a few weeks after sexual contact. The early symptoms include a headache, pain in the muscles and the joints, rashes and inflamed lymph nodes. The early symptoms tend to disappear within 2 to 3 weeks. The next set of symptoms might appear after a few years which might be persistent. The symptoms include fatigue, loss of body weight, inflated lymph nodes, fever and sweat during the night.

If you are diagnosed with HIV, you should:

  • Try to maintain a daily diet containing vegetables, legumes, and fruits which provide you energy.
  • Try to include a little bit of fat, carbohydrates (at least 3 servings of vegetable per day), calcium (dairy products) and low-fat protein sources (generally 80-150 gram per day of fish, skinned chicken, low-fat cheese etc.) in your everyday meal.
  • Maintain a daily calorie intake of 17-25 calories per pound depending on whether the person is losing weight.
  • Vitamins and minerals are particularly necessary to repair the cells damaged by the HIV virus.

So, it is necessary to intake foods such as eggs, milk, peanuts, green vegetables, meat, beans and broccolis on a regular basis, if you have been diagnosed with HIV.

If you are suffering from HIV, you must maintain the following food safety measures:

  • You should try to restrict the intake of fat
  • Restrict your alcohol intake
  • You should try to avoid fast foods
  • You should also limit your regular sugar intake and should avoid foods with extra sugar

Over the last few decades, the word cholesterol has assumed a different connotation. It has come to be known as a silent killer that spells doom for health. However, what we need to realize is that a certain amount of cholesterol is essential for the proper functioning of the body. The liver produces about 85% of the cholesterol that is required by the body normally. The ever changing food habits have introduced a lot of processed foods that are loaded with saturated fats. Along with this, reduced physical activity has led to accumulation of cholesterol in the blood.

The types of cholesterol are based on the density and we have 2 types of density that is Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) and High Density Lipoprotein (HDL). LDL is more dangerous than HDL, called as bad and good cholesterol respectively. In addition, the triglycerides and lipoprotein are also critical indicators of overall cholesterol levels. Depending on a person's age, height and weight, normal levels are derived for each of these four.

Because of their density of the cholesterol molecules, as they are circulating in the blood stream, they tend to get sluggish and settle down along the walls of the blood vessels, referred to as plaque. This plaque attracts more and more cholesterol from the blood and the layer gets gradually thicker. This reduces the thickness of the blood vessels and in severe cases even completely blocks blood flow to important organs like the brain and heart, leading to severe conditions like stroke and heart attack respectively.

However, it is not always that all cholesterol is bad. It is one of the essential things for the proper body functions with the main functions listed below:

  1. Each cell in the body requires it to form the cell membrane, the protective layer around the cells
  2. Synthesis of vitamin D is done with the help of cholesterol, which is very essential for skin health
  3. It also helps in hormone formation. In addition to steroids, other hormones like testosterone, estrogen, cortisol require cholesterol as a main ingredient
  4. Formation of neurotransmitters and overall nerve function requires cholesterol. This ensures optimal neurological functioning.

So, as noted above, there are, both good and bad aspects to cholesterol. It is not all that dangerous a thing that it is made out to be. The trick is to maintain a good level of cholesterol so that the body's requirements are met, and at the same time, the harmful effects are kept at bay. Some important parameters to manage, include the percentage of bad cholesterol in the blood and the ratio of triglycerides to HDL in the blood. These are considered fair indicators of heart health and if need be, lifestyle changes and/or medications can be undertaken to manage overall health and reduce risk of heart disease and stroke.

Take sage tea taking at least two cups of sage tea every day reduces your chances of experiencing nightfall. Take sage tea first thing in the morning and just before you go to bed. Sage tea has other health benefits as well. 7. Eat pomegranate pomegranate is one of the popular remedies for nightfall. The fruit improves blood circulation and acts as an antioxidant. Its role in promoting good blood circulating helps you get hard erections. Eating pomegranate will help you stop nightfall within one or two months. 8.
