I have a problem with my eye! In morning when I have try to open my eye I can't open my eye clearly?
Could be because of many reasons but commonly it is due to allergy or infection or dry eyes you need to visit eye specialist to differentiate between the two as the treatment is different. Also get your eyes checked for any glass power.

Can i use the same prescription for the contact lens which i use for my spec? i have -3,180d power for both eye(prescribed for spec)

FVRS, DNB Ophthalmology, MS Ophthalmology, MBBS, FICO
Ophthalmologist, Chennai
The contact lens power for those with minus power is usually slightly less than the spectacle power. For small powers ( eg -1 or -2) the power may be the same. It is better to have a trial lens fitting and verify contact lens power before ordering

When I walk on high sunlight I have a problem with my eyes. Eyea were turn red and heavy headache. What should I do.
Hello Sam, Walking under sunlight without any protection to the eyes is bound to make your eyes red. Direct sun light harms your eyes in turn making them red. You need to use dark tinted sun glasses in order to protect your eyes from direct sun light. The sun glasses will even protect your eyes and decrease the headache also.

allergy can be controlled easily using eye drops. But there are many eye drops and specific eye drops can only be prescribed after seeing the eye clinically as treatment depends on severity. also dip a handkerchief in little cold water and keep over closed eyes.. you will feel better

Treatment for Foreign Objects in the Eyes

Cornea Cataract & Lasik
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Treatment for Foreign Objects in the Eyes

Anything that enters the eye from outside and causes inflammation or irritation, or even an abrasion, among varied other problems, can be termed as a foreign body. This foreign body usually ends up having an effect on the conjunctiva or the cornea. While the cornea is the outer layer that protects the eye, the conjunctiva is the membrane that covers the white portion of the eye.

Here are a few ways for understanding and treating the entry of foreign objects into the eye:

  • Symptoms: To begin with, one must understand the symptoms so as to recognise the problem. A feeling of pressure or discomfort will be experienced by the patient, who will feel as though something is preventing him or her from shutting the eye properly. At the same time, too much tear formation and pain in the eyes will also point at the entry of the foreign object while redness and bloodshot eyes are also a common sight at such instances. The patient may be forced to blink at more than the normal rate, while glares of light will create pain and discomfort.
  • Causes: There are many kinds of foreign objects that can enter the eyes including fine substances like saw dust, dirt, grime, dust, sand and even the dust of cosmetics. Also, eye lashes, dried mucus, shards of glass and metal particles may enter the eyes and create an emergency situation. When the wind sweeps debris up, it may fall into a person's eyes and settle there.
  • Prompt Action: As soon as you feel like something has entered your eye and does not seem to be leaving it even after continuous blinking, then you will need to see a doctor in the Emergency Unit of your hospital. Do not rub your eyes at all, as the foreign object may cause cuts inside and lead to bleeding and other complications. You must take special care to notice whether or not the object in the eye is sharp and is preventing you from shutting your eye properly, in which case immediate medical intervention and diagnosis will be required.
  • Treating the Foreign Object: With the aim of removing this object, the doctor may administer anaesthetic drops before using a fluorescein dye to find out what kind of object has entered. A moist cotton swab will be used for removal and an antibiotic ointment will be prescribed for any cuts. Acetaminophen can treat the pain while a CT scan can investigate any intraocular object.

You can also use a wet cloth to rinse and remove the object at home, but blurry vision and pain must be taken to an ophthalmologist immediately.

Usually eye fatigue can be prevented or reduced by making simple changes in your work habits or environment. Make changes to your computer screen, such as: place the screen 20-26 inches away from your eyes and a little below eye level. Regularly clean off dust and fingerprints from the screen. Smudges on the screen can reduce contrast and increase problems with glare and reflections. Choose screens that tilt and swivel. Consider using a glare filter over your screen. Make changes to your work environment, such as: change lighting to reduce glare and harsh reflections. Use an adjustable chair. Place a document holder next to your computer screen. Make changes to your work habits, such as: try the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look away about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds. Post a note that says" blink" on the computer as a reminder. Take regular breaks from computer work. Take care of your eyes with these steps: apply a washcloth soaked in warm water to tired, dry eyes (with eyes closed). Use artificial tears to refresh your eyes when they feel dry. To help prevent dry eyes while working indoors, use an air cleaner to filter dust and a humidifier to add moisture to the air. Management: give sufficient rest to your eyes with proper sleep. Keep yourself hydrated with intake of 10-12 glasses of water in a day. Eat healthy especially vitamin a rich food (green vegetables, carrots, yellow fruits and vegetables) and avoid junk food. Hold tap water in your flexed palm, dip your one eye closer to the water level, shut and open your eyelids often. Do the same with your other eye. Repeat this whole process 1-2 times more in a day. Give your eyes proper rest. Can keep slices of cucumber or potato or used tea bags over the closed eyes for sometime. Medication: instill 2 drops of euphrasia eye drops in each eye twice daily.

By your history i think you have something known as a pterygium. Look it up in google images. If this is what you have then it cannot be cured by medications, you will need to go in for surgery as early as possible. If you wait then there will be more chances of corneal scarring and poor postoperative results.

I am a colour blindness person. I just want to know that I can get a treaent on colour blindness.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology

I am a colour blindness person. I just want to know that I can get a treaent on colour blindness.
Hello lybrate-user. There are different reasons for color blindness. (1) majority people have color blindness since childhood/ birth. This is chiefly due to genetic alteration in the chromosomes of the body. (2) a small fraction of color blindness may occur later on in life. It may have associations with problems of the optic nerve or the macula of the retina. There are a few neurological problems that have been known to cause color blindness. Thus, to conclude, a total thorough evaluation is necessary to decide whether treatment is possible. If you have your eye examination past and present records, send them to me. I will have a look at them and guide you further. (use the lybrate facility for sending your reports). We should definitely try and get a solution to your problem if possible. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care-regards.

Hello sir My father underwent cataract surgery in left eye. The doctor told me that during the surgery he came to know that my father had posterior polar cataract. And during surgery cortex of lens was strongly adherent to posterior capsule. So he had to do anterior vitrectomyou also. After surgery he has blurred vision and now keratitis is cured after the medication. His vision is also improved after 5 days of surgery bt he says that he feels a horse shoe shaped black area in his visual field. . His retina is checked and it's normal. So what can be the reason for disabled black view? Should we wait for 1 month till the medication gets over or should we go for further investigation? Please tell.

Dear:- posteriour polar cataract surgery needs better preplanned investigation (sle) to diagnosed accurately & manage accordingly. As per your information, posterior capsule has been ruptured accidently. Posteriour capsule rupture will cause vitreous prolapse, keratitis, post. Op. Glaucoma, impairment of vision & other complication later also. Through fundus examination is needed to exclude any retinal detachment or hole. Vitreous floater may be rule out also.

I am 23 years old girl in my eyes there is a dark circle give me some home remedies?
Do you also have puffy eyes or bags under your eyes? what are your sleeping patterns? there are many causes of dark circles. I need more information from you which will help you choose a better treatment plan. Too much caffeine/ tobacco and too little sleep, anemia, dehydration are common causes. If you dont have any of these causes then dark circle peels may be prescribed for dark circle which contain contains arginine, lactic acid, allantoin and aloe vera. Arginine is an amino acid derived from brown sugar which boosts collagen, increases elasticity and moisturises the skin. Lactic acid exfoliates and lightens the skin. Allantoin and aloe vera helps to soothe and regenerate the skin. This is used in conjunction with vitamin c and matrixyl that provides firmness and resistance to the skin around the eye. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.
