Extra-virgin olive oil works as a great skin moisturizer, facilitates healing and promotes skin renewal as it is rich in vitamin E and antioxidants. It will also soothe your skin and reduce itching. Simply rub extra-virgin olive oil or a combination of equal parts of olive oil and honey on your rash a few times daily until it heals completely. Alternatively, you can add a little turmeric powder to some olive oil and apply it two or three times a day for a few days. Packed with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric soothes rashes and relieves itching. In addition to olive oil, castor oil and coconut oil help heal rashes naturally. A combination of vitamin E oil and cod liver oil is another popular remedy. Once your skin irritation/itching is relieved your anger will also reduce.

How should I lose weight? And what should I eat for dieting so that my weight easily reduce?

BHMS
Homeopath, Raebareli
How should I lose weight? And what should I eat for dieting so that my weight easily reduce?
Please follow the below recommendation for your condition: it is important for you to find the right kind of weight reduction method to get back into shape and never fall prey to diet pills and weight loss supplement advertisements that you come across on television channels and the internet. If you are able to combine a proper and healthy diet with an exercise regime, then this could be your passport to the fastest way to lose weight and that too naturally. The first and foremost thing that you should remember is that you should not skip meals or eat at irregular times in any weight loss plan. If you ever thought that skipping a meal or two an eating a hearty meal only once a day is never going to help in reducing your weight. Also, make sure that you set realistic weight loss target goals before beginning a weight loss program and try to achieve the set target. Always bear in mind that you can only stretch your body to a certain limit with rigorous exercise routines (30-45 minutes treadmill) and a well-balanced and healthy diet plan.

Sabja Seeds

Sabja seeds or falooda seeds or tukmaria or basil seeds

Sabza seeds is known by the names sabja seeds or falooda seeds or tukmaria or basil seeds.

The seeds look similar like black sesame seeds and are a bit smaller comparatively and you need to soak them in water. 2 minutes of the seeds in water and you can see it absorbing the water and become jelly like. You can eat it as it is with a spoon. While the outer layer will be soft and smooth like jelly, the center will be crunchy like when you eat seeds. They are most commonly used in making falooda, added to sherbets, milkshakes and other drinks. Basil seed does not have taste of their own but they give a good texture to the dish and make it healthy too.

Basil seeds have many health benefits:

  • They are cooling and thats why they are added to many cooling drinks like falooda, rooh afza, nimbu pani and sherbets.
  • They are good for sore throats, cold and respiratory disorders.
  • Very good for digestion especially in a hot climate.
  • Basil seeds are a natural laxative which helps to cure constipation that is caused by excess body heat during summer.
  • They prevent heartburn and also relieves a bloated stomach which results from incorrect eating habits, also reduces nauseous feeling and controls vomiting.
  • It is known to cure for urinary tract problems which are once again normal during peak summer time.
  • It is an excellent natural body coolant.
  • The seeds have a diuretic action and flush the kidneys.
  • Sabja seeds have a calming effect on the brain. They relieve stress, tension, mental fatigue, depression and migraine. They also aid in enhancing the mood.
  • Chewing sabja or tukmaria seeds cure mouth ulcers and other infections of the mouth. They also help fight plaque and cavities.

How to use?
Soak them in water for 30 mins. Once they absorb the water, a translucent gelatin like coating is formed around them. Strain and then use these soaked seeds in drinks, coolers, sherbets, ice creams, falooda or kulfis. Remember to add enough water, otherwise the soaked seeds become lumpy when they start swelling.

Try having 1tbsp of sabja seeds this summer for the cool cool effect.

I am 18 years old male. What should I do for extra fat on belly, thighs and hip region?

I am 18 years old male. What should I do for extra fat on belly, thighs and hip region?
Hi, I am both a registered dietitian and a doctor who will help you in losing your weight as well as solve your other health problems through a dietary therapy. Let me know your food intake details. The best diet is one which is healthy and well balanced with foods from all the food groups, and one which is varied and that you can stick to weight loss on some diets can be dramatic in the short term, but there's more of a chance of rebound weight gain. Set yourself a realistic target and aim to lose between (0.5-1.0kg) a week I being a registered dietitian strongly accommodate the patients own preferences without the patient feeling that they are on a diet not compromising the weight management goals. Don't fall for self dieting or fad diets availiable online they have harmful effects in the long run, if you lose a lot of weight very quickly, you may not lose as much fat as you would with a more modest rate of weight loss. Instead, you might lose water weight or even lean muscle tissue, since it's hard to burn that many fat calories in a short period. I will need to carry out detailed assessment in your case, after assessing your personal challenges to weight loss, I will recommend a strategy to gradually change habits and attitudes that have sabotaged your past efforts. Also the overall objective should not be to drastically reduce weight but doing it gradually and help rebuild body tissues and to maintain ideal body weight. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

I'm 30 years old I want to stop sleeping pills sunidra how can you help. I also take anti depressant.

I'm 30 years old I want to stop sleeping pills sunidra how can you help. I also take anti depressant.
It seems something is bothering you because of which you have lost your sleep. I hope you are taking these antidepressant tablets after consulting a doctor. It appears to me that you are upset about something in your life. May be you are not able to express your feelings to anyone or to the concerned person. But suppressed feelings come out in the form of psychosomatic pains, sleep disorders, unjustified anger or sadness or other health issues. Please check with yourself what is happening to you? you need to get in touch with your own feelings. It is also important to express your feelings assertively so that you can take rational decisions in life and enjoy your life. You may consider talking to a counsellor who will help you in finding the root cause of your sleeplessness and depression and will also help you in boosting your communication skills. Taking medication for a longer time will have side effects. Take care.

Few things related to headache so that we can plan the treatment accordingly - if pain is associated with blurred or decreased vision than check your eye sight for refractive error - if the pain is associated with cold and fever than we have to rule out sinusitis as the cause and if the pain is pulsatile in nature and with a throbbing pain usually with an aura than we have to rule out migrane as the cause - if the pain is associated with neck problems than we have to rule out cervical spondylosis as the cause - if the pain is associated with either low or high bp or due to hyperacidity than we have to treat the cause after examination.

Dear Prakash, Sleep disturbances are common in depression and other mental disorders. There are other causes for sleep disturbances. You can get sleep study done to diagnose your problem. It will be done by overnight stay in the sleep lab with all sorts of wires connected with you. One diagnosed, you will get proper treatment. Please do NOT use alprazolam. At your age, you may become dependent on it and go on increasing the dose with no further benefit. Dreams are a part of sleep. There is nothing to worry about. Let all your fears go in the dreams so that your day time will be better.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome - Treatment and Care

Patients suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome experience severe abdominal pain, abdominal bloating along with cramping, gas, constipation and a constant urge to go to the toilet again and again. IBS is a health disorder where the large intestine or the colon is affected. This condition is a chronic one and requires long-term management. The symptoms are usually worse after eating and tend to occur in episodes. Although the disorder cannot be reversed, several symptoms can be managed or controlled by making lifestyle and dietary modifications. Most patients with IBS will experience flare-ups that last for a few days. For others, medical treatment is required.

Treatment and Care

Different procedures are used to treat IBS, which vary from person to person. However, one single treatment does not work with everyone.

Lifestyle and Dietary changes:

By making several basic modifications to your regular diet and activities, IBS improves with time. Here are some tips:

  1. You should avoid caffeine in any form such as coffee, tea or soda.
  2. You should increase the amount of fiber in your diet and include vegetables, fruits, whole grains and nuts.
  3. You must drink three to four glasses of water regularly.
  4. Smoking should be abstained from.
  5. You must undertake relaxation techniques and work out in order to reduce stress.
  6. Your amount of dairy product consumption must be reduced.
  7. You should eat frequent, small meals instead of fewer large meals.
  8. The most common food triggers, which lead to IBS are green onions, red wine, milk and red peppers. You should not consume these products.
  9. You should keep a record of the types of food you consume so that you can identify the IBS triggering food items.
  10. You should eliminate high gas producing food items from your diet. Food items which may result in passing excess amount of gas such as carbonated vegetables and vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower should not be consumed.

Medications:

Several medicines are used to treat IBS. These include the following:

  1. Antispasmodics are used to control muscle spasms in the large intestine.
  2. Antidiarrhoeal medicines are used to control the symptoms of diarrhoea.
  3. Laxatives are prescribed for relief from constipation.
  4. Bulking agents like wheat bran and corn fibers are used to slow down the food movement through the digestive system. They also relieve symptoms.
  5. Antidepressants are also used in case of some patients with IBS for relief.
  6. In patients, whose symptoms occur due to bacterial overgrowth in the intestines, certain antibiotics may be used for treatment.

There are several triggers of IBS, which must be identified and treatment should be undertaken after that. For the proper identification and best treatment of IBS which suits your symptoms, it is essential you consult a gastroenterologist. Alternative treatment methods such as acupuncture, using certain herbs and probiotics can also be followed.

kidney stone

bachelor of science, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Meerut
kidney stone
According to ayurveda improper diet and lifestyle leads to aggravation of all three doshas (ayurvedic humors) and impairment of the digestive fire, causing formation of toxins (ama) in the body. These toxins travel down the channels carring urine, where aggravated doshas combine with it, causing its crystallization and leading to the formation of kidney stone.

Ayurvedic treatment of kidney stones involves the use of diuretic and stone-dissolving herbs in acute cases the system is then cleaned and strengthened using toning and rejuvenating preparations.
