Hello lasik is very good option to get rid of glasses doctor will perform few tests (schirmer test, pentacam and fundus examination) and if all tests are normal then you can go for lasik surgery without fear. Success rate of lasik is over 96%. Side effects may vary from minimal like mild dryness, dalk, haloes, glare to severe like infection (very rare). Precaution include: a. Avoid face/head wash for 1 week b. Avoid swimming /water sports for 6 weeks c. Avoid eye make up for 6 weeks cost: depends on type of lasik which varies from 25000 for standard lasik to 1.10 lacs for smile lasik for more details, you can read my health tip on lasik.

Usually eye power increases till your body is growing like your height is increasing. Once height stops increasing eye power also stops increasing. But sometimes it does not. Only after proper examination of your eyes we can tell weather it is normal or not.

There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 16 years so your number will not increase much now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.

In the initial stages of Keratoconus, spectacles may suffice in improving vision. However, rigid contact lenses are advised. They help by providing support to the cornea, and by partly correcting its curvature, reduce astigmatism and improve vision. The pain in your eyes is due to procedure done and will go in a week. The procedure you have done is a new modality of treatment called C3R or Corneal Collagen Cross-linking is also helpful. It increases the rigidity of the cornea and helps in stopping the progression of Keratoconus, sometimes even inducing regression. Corneal transplantation may be required in severe cases or those with complications.

It seems that my eye sight gets affected at the time of winter would should I do to avoid it.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology

It seems that my eye sight gets affected at the time of winter would should I do to avoid it.
If there is reduction of vision, it would probably not be related to the winter season. Winter season may affect the eyes because of lack of moisture in the environment. This may cause dry eyes, redness, itching, foreign body sensation, discomfort, etc. To avoid these symptoms, try to follow the following precautions: don't take your eyes for granted! protect your sight with these six tips: 1. Eat for good vision 2. Quit smoking 3. Wear sunglasses / helmets to shield your eyes from dust, sunlight, pollution 4. Wash your eyes 3-4 times a day 5. Look away from the computer screen at regular intervals 6. Avoid rubbing your eyes with fingers/ cloth/ shirt/ dupatta, etc. Also, you could consider using a lubricant eye drops. (eg. Genteal eye drops) this could be used 4 to 5 times in a day for both eyes. Let me know if your require further assistance. Take care-
