Hi doctor my baby is 3 1/2 months old. Her poo seems to be watery for past 4 days. I don know the reason. I am giving only breast milk. Please can advise.

Infective diarrhoea is unusual in breastfed babies. Start rota virus vaccination before 16 weeks. If watery stools are continuing consult your doctor.

There are many reasons for headache of short duration. Sinusitis may be a reason. You have not mentioned any other associated symptoms and what medicines you have taken. You must consult a Doctor.

Hi, I have a three months old baby who refuses to breastfeed suddenly. Its been one month now, sometime it's really frustrating whenever I tried to feed him he cries like anything so this days I am usually feeding him when he sleeps. Even if I tried to hold him on my lap he cries thinking that I am going to feed him. Please help.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
If he is given bottle feed also it can cause nipple and breast confusion and stop bottle and give breast milk only . Refusal to feed can also be a sign of infection and need to see if he has other symptoms also

You can keep paracetamol suspension which can be given in the dosage of 10 to 15 mg per kg body weight per dose and for cold you can put saline nasal drops into each nostril frequently.

Just stop feeding with bottle, give milk with a small tumbler & add solid foods after every 3 hours. Gradually increase quantum of food with increasing age & weight. Be careful about hygeine.

Can I give yogurt dahi to my 10 months old son? And where do I get wheat grass? What all food I can give to my son.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
You can give Yoghurt and give all homemade foods. Wheatgrass is available in super markets and online Wheatgrass juice is a popular health drink. It is thought to benefit health only when fresh and taken on an empty stomach immediately after extraction. But there is no research to date that supports this.In foods and beverages, wheatgrass extracts are used as a flavoring component.

Why breech baby form's and why mother's having low or adequate liquor. It causes c section, after c section can women get normal delivery? How much time gap is necessary for first and second pregnancy?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Breech occurs when the baby comes to lie in opposite direction with bak down instead of face down. Minimum 2 years needed for the second baby and second also will be C.S as previous LSCS is an indication for doing C S.

Common Insulin Alternatives

DDF, FCCP, MD , MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
Common Insulin Alternatives

Insulin is the most common treatment prescribed for people affected with diabetes. Diabetes is condition where high amounts of glucose prevail in the blood for an extended period of time. However, there are some drugs that offer an alternative to insulin in treating diabetes, which are:

  1. Liraglutide: Liraglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) drug that causes the body to release greater amounts of insulin so as to facilitate the movement of glucose from the blood to the cells. People with type 2 diabetes generally use this treatment. It slows the digestion process and can cause symptoms of headache and nausea.
  2. Pramlintide: It's an artificially produced version of amylin. It is taken by both type 1 and type 2 diabetic patients, facilitates slower digestion of food and therefore, controls release of sugar in the blood. It can cause tiredness and nausea.
  3. Dulaglutide:This treatment is for people affected with type 2 diabetes and it is administered once a week. It causes more insulin to be released and pass the glucose to the cells. It can cause loss of appetite, nausea and abdominal cramps as side effects.
  4. Albiglutide: This treatment facilitates pancreas to release insulin and limits the glucagon hormone production. It is used by type 2 diabetes patients who have not taken well to other treatments. The side effects are skin reaction, respiratory tract infection and nausea.
  5. Exenatide: It is a drug that causes pancreas to release insulin that facilitates movement of glucose to cells. It is a treatment for type 2 diabetes and it restricts release of glucagon in the body. The possible side effects are acidity, constipation and vomiting.

My daughter who is 2.5 years old put thread in her nose but no thread found by doctor in basic checkup what will we do?

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
Small objects like threads will not stay in the nose for long period. They usually come out while blowing. If the doctor has confirmed it's absence you can ignore. If any blood starts coming from that nose better you show to another ent surgeon.

I took My 8 month old daughter to monthly checkup. Her doc gave her cipcal syrup 2.5 ml daily. Please tell me the uses of this syrup? N for what it is used?

MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH), DNB (Pediatrics), FACEE PEDIATRICS
Pediatrician, Allahabad
Since vitamin D is required for absorption of calcium and bone growth. And children are more prone to vitmin D deficiency due to less exposure to sunlight. So this is added for better absorption of calcium and bone growth.
