I am diabetic since last 20 years and now I am taking Tab. Jalra M 50/1000 mg 1-0-1 and semiamaryl 0.5 mg before BF. My sugar level is controlled i.e 95-100 Before BF and 140-150 after food and hba1c is 6.15. I have seen advertisement that recommending Tablet IME-9 from ministry of AYUSH GOI. Kindly advice that shall I take this by stopping English medicine .i expect advice from allopathy doctors.

MBBS, DPHA, DPH, PGDHHM, MBA (Healthcare), Fellow in Diabetes
General Physician, Gandhidham
Dear patient I am a allopathy doctor. I would advise you to go for IME9. As long as your HbA1c remain below 6.5 there is no problem. it's better if you can manage your diabetes on both medicines. some modifications will be required. Regards

I have diabetes detected 8-9 months ago when it was 300-350 levels. I started treatment and got controlled till the level of 150, however it was not a consistent level. It was fluctuating all the time and shot up with small diet imbalance. Now my H1PAC is 9.5. Medicined has stopped working since last 30-40 days and my blood sugar level is around 200+ fasting and 300-3500 pp. Getting weaker day by day and lost around 6-7 kg in last 30-40 days. Now my age is 31 and weight is only 54 kg. initially doctor confirmed that it is type 2 however he had his doubts also. I do not have any kind of diabetes history in maternal or paternal side even as of now. Please suggest what to do as I am worried. I got married two months ago. Doctor suggested me to take insulin if medicine do not work anymore. Should I take insulin for some time to control the blood sugar level and if yes then how much dose should I take. Also suggest me the process how to inject it and how many times in a day. Also tell me if it is curable going forward. Can I become normal or like normal. Thank you.

General Physician, Gandhidham
Dear patient Treatment of diabetes needs careful monitoring and regular follow up. The technique needs physical demo. The insulin doses needs frequent titration till your sugar levels settle down. For all above you have to consult your nearby diabetologist. For second opinion you may consult me on private chat. Regards.

Dear patient your Hba1c 6.3 suggest, you could be prediabetic. Hence you are advised to restrict sugar and sweets in your diet. If I take boiled fenugreek early morning empty stomach is causes reduced sugar levels in my body? Kindly guide me.

MBBS, DPHA, DPH, PGDHHM, MBA (Healthcare), Fellow in Diabetes
General Physician, Gandhidham
Dear Patient Fenugreek seeds (trigonella foenum graecum) are high in soluble fibre, which helps lower blood sugar by slowing down digestion and absorption of carbohydrates. This suggests they may be effective in treating people with diabetes. But it is not alternative to medicines that control diabetes. Regards.

Is jaggery the right replacement of Sugar for sweeting the drinks like tea, nimboo Pani etc. And sweet dishes like kheer, halwa etc. What are the bad effects of jaggery?

MBBS, DPHA, DPH, PGDHHM, MBA (Healthcare), Fellow in Diabetes
General Physician, Gandhidham
Hi Lybrate, Jaggery cannot be replacement for sugar in diet. It is sugar only in other form and taste. Needs more quantity than regular crystal sugar. The jaggary contains Iron and B12 vitamin is good for health in normal way. But it has similar effects like sugar in body making one prone to diabetes and obesity. Regards.

Dear sir your blood sugar levels are high. You definitely need anti diabetic treatment. I will advise you to go for allopathic treatment to get better control and prevent complications of diabetes. Your pain in joints may automatically subside when sugar levels come to normal range. If you are obese and hypertensive then additional treatment and lifestyle modifications will be required. Please contact physician near you. Your lipid profile looks at borderline. If you are obese or overweight then statin therapy is required.

Dear friend your mothers blood sugar levels appears normal. Blood sugar fasting should be 100 and 2 hrs after meals should be 140. She is already diagnosed as diabetic and on medicine so the credit of sugar control goes to medicine and your doctor. The best person to decide whether to continue or discontinue the drug is your treating doctor only. Please consult him.
