Hair whitening can be controlled with these simple tips - 1. Use mild shampoo to wash hair (you can make your own shampoo using reetha and shikakai at home) 2. Stop using conditioners. Use natural conditioners like egg, yougurt and lemon. 3. Massage your scalp with a mix of oils like olive, coconut, sesame, castor oil at night. 4. Apply raw amla juice on hair thrice a week. 5. Rub your scalp with the juice of white onion. 6. Use a paste of bhringraj on hair. 7. You can use some good hair packs like - fenugreek and yogurt, egg and green tea. 8. You can rinse your hair with organic apple cider vinegar after washing your hair to maintain ph balance of your hair. 9. Hair health depends on the amount of protein in your diet. Foods like chicken, eggs, fish, nuts, dry fruits gives you the required nutrients to keep your skin and hair healthy. So consume plenty of them. Eat things rich in vitamin c like amla and oranges. 10. Drink lots of water to flush out toxins from the body.

I have an problem on my scalp just flaky scalp all over the head I don't know what to do.

I have an problem on my scalp just flaky scalp all over the head I don't know what to do.
Hi, seborrheic dermatitis is also called dandruff, seborrheic eczema and seborrheic psoriasis. It isn't contagious, and it's not a sign of poor personal hygiene. Few self-care tips can help you control and manage seborrheic dermatitis (dandruff): soften and remove scales from your hair. Apply mineral oil or olive oil to your scalp. Leave it in for an hour or so. Then comb or brush your hair and wash it. Wash your skin regularly. Rinse the soap completely off your body and scalp. Avoid harsh soaps and use a moisturizer. Avoid products that contain alcohol. These can cause the disease to flare up. Wear smooth-textured cotton clothing. This helps keep air circulating around your skin and reduces irritation. If you have a beard or mustache, consider shaving it off. Seborrheic dermatitis can be worse under mustaches and beards. If this is the case for you, shaving might ease your symptoms. Avoid scratching. Scratching can increase irritation and your risk of infection. Gently clean your eyelids. If your eyelids show signs of redness or scaling, wash them each night with baby shampoo and wipe away scales with a cotton swab. Warm or hot compresses also may help. Use lukewarm water for head wash. Medication: take homoeopathic medicines - schwabe's badiaga 200 & alfalfa tonic twice a day for 1 month and revert. Use schwabe's anti-dandruff shampoo and anti-dandruff oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use bakson's arnica hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Apart from this, you can take one tablet of multivitamin folli hair once daily for 1 month.

Add salt after cooking

MBBS, AFIH, PGDMLS, MD-HRM, MD-HM
General Physician, Gurgaon
Add salt after cooking

Whenever we cook food, if the salt is added before the starting of cooking, the iodine gets evaporated and one does not get the advantage of 'iodised namak'.

This may lead to less iodine intake which is a basic need for Thyroid Hormones .. like T3 and T4 (Tri -Iodothyronine and Tetra - Iodothyronine) where the name itself suggests that they are ionised compounds.

Thus, if you remember this fact that cooking would evaporate iodine, you would develop a habit of cooking without adding salt and then add salt during the serving of the food. It would control Blood Pressure and Iodine Deficiency both as one would add less salt if he or she is hypertensive.

Please help me out with some stress management routine! I am having lots of acnes and I heard that stress is a major ...
Dear Ms. lybrate-user, In reference to your inquiry, please note that you need not worry, as treatment for this problem of Acne is available with us. The causative factors may not be necessarily based into the affected region and may be associated with disorders of internal organs. It is, the nature of the problem that calls in for the strategy of the treatment which may include internal remedies supported by external modalities like:- localized immune-enhancer activities to affected region i.e. Acupuncture, applications of products with certified organic herbs, modernized cosmetology and procedures based on ancient principles as mentioned in classical text including Constitutional diet & Yoga. On examination by the concerned Doctor and on case taking these details are given to you as a routine procedure. Acne may range from non contagious pimples to deep seated chronic inflammatory disorders. This is a disorder of the hair bearing skin in which hair follicles develop obstructing plugs (comedones) as a result of which inflammation develops around the obstructed follicles, causing tissue destruction and scar formation. It has been estimated that 70% of the population have some clinically evident acne at some stage during adolescence. The course of the disease is chronic with frequent remission and exacerbations. Acne tends to subside in the twenties but may persist indefinitely. The few obvious causes for acne are: Increased production of the sex hormones. Androgen stimulates increased sebum production. An aerobic proliferation within the follicles. Intense acute inflammatory response. Continuous touching and squeezing. Hot and humid weather. Use of wrong cosmetics. A comprehensive judicious program is required to get rid of acne and its scars. Treatment at Valeda Wellness Centers is aimed at: Reducing the bacterial population of hair follicle. Encouraging the shedding of the follicular horny plugs to free obstruction. Reducing the rate of sebum production either by acting on the sebaceous glands or indirectly by inhibiting the effect of androgen on sebaceous glands. Usage of anti-inflammatory agents to reduce the effect of acne inflammation on the skin. For further information visit to our website valedalife.com, wellness treatments, P04. Best Physiotherapy/Rehab Exercises for Cerebral Palsy/Delayed Milestones

Best Physiotherapy/Rehab Exercises for Cerebral Palsy/Delayed Milestones

CEREBRAL PALSY

Cerebral palsy is a term used to describe a broad spectrum of motor disability which is non-progressive and is caused by damage to brain at or around birth. It is a disorder which develops due to damage to CNS and this damage can take place before, during, or immediately after the birth of the child. The damage won't worsen but remains constant. However the child may appera to worsen if not given proper intervention not because of an increase in lesion in the brain but just beacuse the damaged brain is not able to cope up with the physical demand of the growing body and the increasing demand of the environment surrounding the child.

CAUSES:

ANTENATAL CAUSES:

  • Genetic causes: First or second degree consanguineous marriage.
  • Intrauterine virus infection: Rubella and cytomegalovirus infections which lead to severe brain damage along with associated visual and hearing problem with cataract.
  • Hypoglycemia: Low blood sugar for long period lead to brain damage and epilepsy. Cerebellum is more vulnerable leading to ataxia and visual problems. Infant of diabetic mothers are more prone to hypoglycemia.

Trauma to the mother:

  • Infection to the mother can make the baby prone to develop it.
  • Malnourishment of the fetus especially in case of twins.
  • Exposure to the mother’s abdominal area to repeated X-ray radiation, prolonged use of medications like steroids by mother.

NEONATAL CAUSES:

  • Prematurity: Premature babies are prone to brain damage either due to trauma during delivery and later on due to immature respiratory and cardiovascular system. Therefore, they are likely to develop hypoxia and low blood pressure also, they are more likely to develop low blood sugar, jaundice and hemorrhage because of liver immaturity.
  • Vascular causes: Occlusion of the internal carotid or midcerebral artery during birth can on many occasions lead to hemiplegia.
  • Trauma: trauma can occur either due to disproportion, breech delivery, and forceps delivery, distortion of head and tearing of tentorium.
  • Asphyxia: It can occur by accidents and burns which could be as a result of knotted umbilical cord, cord around the neck or prolapsed cord. Multiple deliveries can cause asphyxia of the second or third infant.
  • Neonatal meningitis: Usually associated with severe residual brain damage.

POSTNATAL CAUSES:

  • Delayed cry: Causes asphyxia to the brain causing CP.
  • Severe jaundice: Presence of high levels of bilirubin cause basal ganglia damage leading to athetoid cerebral palsy and high tone deafness.
  • Trauma: Fall of the body after birth.
  • Infection: Like meningitis, or encephalitis can cause brain damage.

TYPES OF CEREBRAL PALSY:

  1. Basically cerebral palsy children manifest in three common ways spastic, athetoid, and ataxic.
  2. Spasticity seen in cerebral palsy is usually knife that may change with change in position, which means that spasticity may vary from supine to prone.
  3. Athetoid cerebral palsy children exhibits slow, purposeless, wormlike, involuntary movements which flow into each other. It occurs due to basal ganglia damage commonly seen in children who suffers from an attack of jaundice following birth.
  4. Ataxia in cerebral palsy occurs due to cerebellar damage. Both balance and coordination is affected.

PHYSIOTHERAPY TREATMENT OF CEREBRAL PALSY

  1. Physiotherapy is one of the most important treatments for CP that usually begins soon after being diagnosed and often continues throughout life. Special devices and equipment are needed for some people with CP to help them with specific problems like,
  2. A child who develops uneven leg length may need to wear special shoes with a higher sole and heel on the shorter leg.
  3. Some people who are not able to walk alone may need to use canes, crutches, walkers, or wheelchairs.

EXERCISES IN SUPINE POSITION

Normalizing tone of the muscles: For cases with hypo tonicity slow passive movements, sustained stretch, cryotherapy over the muscle for 15 to 20 minutes, stimulation of antagonist movement and vibrations are used. On the contrary, for cases with hypotinicity weight bearing, joint compression, rhythmic stabilization, vibrations, cryotherapy in brisk manner and taping can be used.

Weight bearing exercises: Weight bearing exercises are necessary to promote development of tone in muscles and also to maintain the absorption of calcium into the bones. Thus the patient should be given activities like bridging, supine on elbows, sitting with weight bearing on the affected arm, and standing should be given as soon as possible within the limitation of the patient’s general medical status..

Skillful TAPING gives a tactile feedback which helps in faster development of tone in the muscles. Weight bearing exercises for the involved upper limb has also been found to be beneficial in preventing this.

Bridging Exercises: The child lies on supine position. Therapist flexed his both the knees n then helps him to lift his back from the mid area so that weight bear on his legs. This should be done in 10 -15 repetitions. Then do bridging on 1 leg and then another.

Stretching and Mobility: The muscles should be maintained at the appropriate physiological length for normal muscle control and normal postural adjustment. In CP because of delay or absence of normal movement muscles are usually in a shortened position hence stretching of the muscles is essential to increase the neuromuscular control. Length of the muscles should be maintained not only through stretching but also through various functional activities.

In supine position, the therapist holds an object so that the child grasp that object by moving his body, in this rolling activity plays an important role. The child rolls right and left to grasp the object sometimes lifting his back and limbs too.

The therapist do some exercises in vestibular ball so that child balance and coordination improves and this is the best spine stretching activity.

Good neck control and developing trunk control by using vestibular ball, he lied down in ball and doing movements that extend his spine and head is looking in upward direction.

EXERCISES IN SITTING

The therapist should hold and support the child in sitting position. Time should be noted daily.

Exercises in vestibular ball to correct the balance. Sit on the vestibular ball and then shift the weight from right side to left side by rolling the ball.

Reaching far objects: As the child sitting in the ball then the therapist should stand in front of him and tell him to reach the object that the therapist holds.

Sit to stand activities and kneeling activities, sit on the toes, sitting by cross leg by maximize wide base of support

EXERCISES IN STANDING

STANDING IN BOTH THE LEGS: The therapist should hold his knees while standing as the child flex his knees and forward trunk to avoid standing.

SQUATTING: The therapist should try and help the child to do some squats about 5 to 10 daily to increase the muscle power and strength.

WALKING with the help of therapist or a cane and use a tilt board for balancing exercises.

Standing on the side of vestibular ball and do reaching objects so that the child lifts his head in upward position for increasing the extension of neck i.e. neck control.

Developing postural reaction: Postural adjustments are essential if the child is move to move freely and to adjust to various environmental demands rapidly. Motor milestones can be best achieved by good postural reactions. Postural reactions consists of righting reactions, protective extension and equilibrium reactions. Initially children first develop righting reactions. Righting reactions allow the child to orient his head in space so that the eyes and mouth are horizontal regardless of the position of the body. It also helps in maintaining the proper alignment of the head with respect to the body.

Oromotor control training: Oromotor function depends on good head control. Common Oromotor problems are: drooling, problems in sucking, swallowing, body movements associated with speech, jaw, hyper or hyposensitivity and inadequate tongue movements. Hence the therapy should consist of good neck control, developing good trunk control, use of brush to decrease drooling.

Speech therapy helps to control the mouth muscles. This therapy can be of great benefit to children with speech or eating problems. Speech therapy often starts before the child begins school and continues throughout the school years.

Both massage therapy and physiotherapy benefit some people with CP by helping them relax tense muscles, strengthen muscles and keep joint flexible.

Hello. Headache and back pain could be inter-related. Maintain a right standing and sitting posture, keep your back always straight, avoid carrying weight on back. Hold or carry weight divided equally in both the hands or shoulders (to avoid over straining on one particular hand or shoulder). (Excessive sitting or standing is to be avoided as well don’t carry much weight on shoulders). Exercise: Practice Shavasana or Corpse Pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: Spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Begin focusing each body part and relaxing it, then moving on. Keep the mind focused on relaxation, the breath should be normal. Relax the whole body. Management: -Stretching or activities that place additional strain on the back are discouraged. -Sleeping with a pillow between the knees while lying on one side may increase comfort. -Lying on your back with a pillow under your knees would also relieves pain and no pillow under your head. -Some people seem to benefit from the use of ice or heat. Take care, do not use a heating pad on ‘high’ or place ice directly on the skin. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Arnica 200 and Rhus Tox. 200 - take both of them thrice daily for 1 week. Also, apply Schwabe's Topi-Arnica and Topi MP Gel on the affected area in circular motions gently thrice a day. Get back to me thereafter.

I am 18 female. Attempted suicide just want to finish my life. I just hate it. What can I do.?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd

You are very young and have a full life ahead of you. You have turned a lot of anger towards yourself. You must identify that anger, its origins, and why you feel you need to turn it against yourself. Life is precious and beautiful depending on how you want to see it, and what circumstances you allow to disturb it. Sometimes when we are not able to get what we want, we need to adjust our wants to cope with the situation. People who cannot make these changes to suit the situation end up becoming maladjusted persons and can suffer more problems in life. It is our resilience that is a sign of good mental health. Surely you do not come into that category! please talk to a counselor, either with your parents or without them too, and discuss your problems at length. That person may want you to meet with a psychiatrist, if it is really serious. Even so, do not give up on the counseling and cooperate with both the therapies, sincerely. At your age you will need to see a lot more of life and realize that you are not mature enough to take your life for want of proper understanding of your circumstances. A counselor will do the needful to explain these intricacies of life. Nothing is worth taking your life for. Your anger is making you have these thoughts and if it is not dealt with soon, you could end up depressed or you may already be depressed. Don? t be so rigid. Negotiate everything. There is always a way, if you are flexible. You must learn to lvoe yourself and your life.

Hi one of the simplest and most effective ways to induce sleep is to rub some oil on the scalp and the soles of the feet before going to bed. Use sesame oil, brahmi oil, jasmine oil, or coconut oil and massage gently for a few minutes. Slightly warming the oil before applying is helpful. Put 1-1 drop of cow ghee in both nostrils at night time before sleep.
