What Is Tennis Elbow? How Can It Be Dealt With?

What Is Tennis Elbow? How Can It Be Dealt With?

You can be diagnosed with a tennis elbow even if you have never been on a tennis court! A tennis elbow refers to tendinitis or swelling of the tendons in the elbows and arms. Tough tissue bands that join the muscles of the arm to the bone are known as tendons. This affliction is one of the most common reasons for elbow pain and can affect men and women at any age. However, it is most commonly seen in patients who are around 40 years old.

Tennis elbow develops gradually and is triggered by repetitive motions that strain the muscles or put too much pressure on the tendons such as sports that involve swinging a racquet, weight lifting or hobbies like carpentry, knitting, typing or painting.

Most cases of tennis elbow resolve themselves with time as long as you rest the elbow and give your tendons a break. Some things you could do to speed up the healing process are:

  1. Soak the elbow in an ice bath for half an hour every 3 to 4 hours. This should help relieve the pain and reduce swelling.

  2. Use an elbow strap to support the arm and prevent further strain in the injured tendon.

  3. Exercising the arm to reduce stiffness and increase the possible range of motions. This will also make your tendons more flexible. However, exercises should be done only under a physiotherapist’s guidance so as to prevent any further damage. Additionally, your doctor may also suggest physiotherapy, to strengthen and stretch the arm muscles.

  4. Over the counter, anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen or aspirin can also help reduce the pain and swelling. These drugs should not be used without a doctor’s guidance as they can cause a number of side effects. In some cases, these side effects can slow down the healing process.

  5. Painkiller or steroid injections may also be prescribed to temporarily ease the pain and swelling around the elbow.

In some cases of severe tennis elbow, these forms of treatment may not be effective and if you are still suffering from pain and swelling for over 4 months, you may need to consider surgery. Surgery for tennis elbow involves removing the damaged section of the tendon and repairing the remaining part.

Recovery from a tennis elbow may seem slow but it is essential to be patient and avoid lifting weights or putting any strain on the arm during recovery. Once the swelling has completely gone down and you feel no pain or tenderness in the area, only then should begin using your arm normally.

This procedure is repeated several times, alternating hot and cold. Note that the treatment should always end in the ice water, as heat will induce the body's inflammatory response, while cold helps to decrease inflammation.

Do not worry, but do take good care of your health. So adapt a healthy lifestyle and follow the discipline every day. Start exercising everyday for atleast 30 mins and later increase the pace. And duration. Add Yoga (include pranayam also) which can bring balance and focus in your Life. Later you can try Homeopathy which is safe and effective without any side-effects. Probably it might due to the increased blood pressure as you said. Generally rise of BP might leads to sudden onset of pain it could be anywhere from head to toe. Consult a physician the home remedy would be go to bed early sleep for 10 hours regularly and take nice fruits and drink more water especially while going to bed, before taking bath and before entering into any physical activity.

Can Hirsutism Be Treated With Homeopathy?

BHMS
Homeopath, Delhi
Can Hirsutism Be Treated With Homeopathy?

Hirsutism is a growth of dark and coarse hair in the regions of a woman’s body where there should be typically very fine or no hair at all, including lip, chin, chest, back and abdomen. This growth is caused by an excessive male hormone called androgen, which all women have naturally. It can be caused due to idiopathic hirsutism and polycystic ovary syndrome and both of these can be diagnosed by physical evaluation, clinical and familial history and also blood tests that help in excluding some of the rare causes of hirsutism.

Effectiveness of homeopathic treatment
In the modern era of allopathy or conventional treatments, hormonal treatments are not successful in establishing a permanent cure of excessive hair growth among women, as the approach is limited to the level of the disease alone, and it doesn’t try to help the situation by eradicating the root cause. However, homeopathy offers a much comprehensive treatment in treating hirsutism without provoking any imbalance in the existing hormonal cycles.

Choosing homeopathy over other treatments
In stark contrast to painful treatment methods like electrolysis, laser therapy and chemical hair removal, the magical doses of homeopathic medications can help you in combating hirsutism to a great extent. It focuses on the conditions of the individual as well as the pathological condition. The medications are selected by an expert after a complete evaluation and case analysis that include the physical and mental constitution of the patient. The predisposition tendency of the patient is often taken into consideration for treating the chronic conditions.

How homeopathy helps in treating abnormal hair growth
The medicines recommended by the experts first try to reduce the harmful effects of the allopathic pills and treatments, and then the remedies act on the different glands for making them work and secrete hormones in an optimal manner. The hormone levels slowly come to normal and the treatment succeeds in creating a dynamic action in regulating and revitalising. With the regulation of the hormone levels, the growth of the unwanted hair lessens and finally reduces after regular treatment. It also helps in reducing the weight of the patient, which in turn lowers the androgen levels that are deemed responsible for the excessive growth of hair. Additionally, homeopathic treatment helps in correcting the genetic predisposition of the disease which prevents it from coming back.

If you are suffering from hirsutism, then you must not neglect it in any way and consult a homeopathic expert who can help you get rid of the condition.

  • Prepare yourself before a consultation - It's good to prepare yourself before a medical consultation. Whether it's researching about the surgery and your condition or being well aware of your family's medical history, or details about the pain that you experience, or your expectations from the surgery, every aspect should be covered so that you derive the maximum benefit from your meeting.
  • Carry out your own research - Carrying out your own research on the alternatives before opting for the surgery can put you on a better footing. It's imperative to compare the opinion put forward by the surgeon from genuine sources so that you're better able to understand the merits and demerits of the treatment.

Possibly it may be due to wrong sleeping posture. U please note it carefully. If it is so, you may observe some changes in it. Otherwise apply Diathermy with the help of a qualified Physiotherapist. U may also apply Skandh vasti of Ayurvedic oils for relief of pain. A Panchkarma Expert will do it. Mahayograj guggulu 02 tablets three times a day with warm water for two weeks will also give relief. U may also get your Blood sugar checked in a Pathological lab.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): How Does It Work?

M.Ch - Plastic Surgery
Cosmetic/Plastic Surgeon, Indore
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): How Does It Work?

What is FUE Hair transplant?
Follicular Unit Extraction is most widely used and the most reliable method of hair transplant being utilized for the permanent and scar-less restoration of hair. FUE is so effective surgical method that it is impossible to distinguish transplanted hair from natural hair. Results are natural and undetectable.

How is FUE done?
The procedure is performed in the OPD under Local Anaesthesia. Anaesthesia is given to prevent any discomfort to the patient during the procedure.

FUE is the method of extraction donor hair directly from donor site in a follicular unit hair transplant procedure. An instrument is used to make small circular incisions in the skin around a follicular unit while separating it from the surrounding tissue. The follicular unit is directly extracted from the scalp leaving a small open hole.

This process continues until the surgeon accumulates large number of follicular units for the planned hair restoration. For single session, this procedure can take two to three hours whereas for long session, it may be accomplished over two consecutive days. The donor scars are approximately 1mm in size which completely heals within ten days.

Before the grafts are harvested, tiny 'recipient sites'; are made in the balding area of the scalp using a fine needle-point instrument. The follicular units are then placed into the recipient sites where they will grow into healthy hair-producing follicles. The creation of recipient sites and the placing of follicular unit grafts are essentially the same in both FUE and FUT procedures. The difference lies in the appearance of the donor area and in the quality and quantity of grafts obtained with each technique.

How is the healing phase after an FUE?
The donor wounds, approximately 1-mm in size, completely heal over the course of seven to ten days, leaving tiny white scars buried in the hair in the back and sides of the scalp.

When does the hair begin growing?
The transplanted hair generally shed within 2 to 6 weeks after the surgery as roots enter in resting phase. Within three to eight months, transplanted roots start sprouting hair. It takes ten to twelve months to have denser hair as hair continue to mature and thicken gradually. Once transplanted hair begin to grow, it will continue to do so for lifetime.

What is biostimulated FUE?
It comprises of hair transplantation by FUE along with 3 sessions of Platelet rich plasma therapy which simultaneously enhance residual hairs as well as transplanted hairs by presence of high concentration of growth factors directly near the hair roots and stimulation of STEM CELLS.

In this hair follicles to be transplanted are preserved in a special solution enriched with patient's own growth factors and at the end of surgery this concentrated solution of growth factors is injected into the whole affected area.

With biostimulation, a good proportion of transplanted hairs remain in growth phase (ANAGEN) and directly start growing after transplantation.
